Doom & Gloom Commeth
LET THE HEALTH & HAPPINESS VITAMIN HELP
I have a bad feeling about this coming winter. I think it’s going to be a particularly dark and cold one. We are going to get blackouts, as promised by the head of the national grid, and we might even get another disease to deal with.
I think many of us are going to be challenged in a way we’ve never been challenged before. There will be some financial woes. People are going to run out of money, completely, some for the first time in their lives. Some will become homeless. Some will nearly freeze to death.
I think we are going to see a massive rise in mental health issues. A combination of seasonal depression and the general situation we find ourselves this winter. The doom and gloom and all that, coupled with the social services inability to cope. Lack of funding and personnel will cripple the NHS. The government will tax the hell out of whatever else is left. Mass poverty will be unleashed.
Doom! Gloom!
If there’s any advice I have for people in the UK, probably other similar places too, is to load up and stock up on Vitamin D. I’ve already started upping my supplements, which I cooled off during the warm summer days. As the days get shorter, I’m starting to get less Vitamin D in my system, so I’v been topping up with a nice effervescent drink, once a day. I’m still on the lower dose now, but as we move into the following months, I’ll raise it to the maximum.
Why Vitamin D you ask? Well, it’s a crucial vitamin for maintaining a rock solid immune system. It’s also a happiness vitamin. It means we will be needing a good level of that in our system to remain resilient against the things that are coming. The number one defence against flus, colds, and other such things, is a strong immune system. In the past few years, a lot of people have come to learn about the benefits of Vitamin D. Unfortunately it’s not pushed by the powers that be because it’s a cheap, cheap, cheap vitamin and nobody makes any money from it.
There is empirical evidence from Israel that shows the difference between people with good to high levels of Vitamin D and people deficient in it, regarding COVID-19 effects. Vitamin D seemed to provide a robust defence against it since it’s a major ingredient used by our immune system. Being low in this vitamin is like having an army with good guns but low on bullets.
I noticed that the high dosage Vitamin D tablets have become less available at the health shops, and nearly vanished from supermarkets. I wonder if people are already stocking up, or just buying them up. You never know.
Other stuff I take include Vitamin C, Zinc, Vitamin K, Probiotics and Cod Liver Oil. Many of these can be found in a healthy diet. Vitamin K in eggs or dark green vegetables, for example, but I don’t always have access to all the good stuff. Some foods like Sauerkraut are amazing and contain a combo of these things in abundance. Vitamin C, and Probiotics are in abundance in Sauerkraut. It’s magic food that. Garlic, Lemon/Lime, Onion, Ginger, Cayenne Pepper and Locust Beans are also your friends, but most of you already know this.
Another crucial thing is to stay away from High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS), which is to be found in most processed sugar containing products. It probably can’t be totally avoided this day and age, since it’s added to almost everything, but this sugar’s molecular structure is terrible for the human body. It not only encourages obesity by encouraging the growth of adipose tissue in the body, but it also competes with vitamins like Vitamin C. So when you drink orange juice with added sugar, HFCS makes the Vitamin C in the juice less absorbable by your body by taking up some of the slots the vitamin would have taken. Crazy eh?

If you live in a country with plenty of sunshine, or no winter in the first place, then lucky you. :)
