Variety Of Nature
A WEEKEND OF 3 WEATHERS IN LONDON ☀️🕸❄️
Nature is truly beautiful and diverse. One amazing thing about Britain is that we see a lot of nature's diversity in the weather, sometimes all in just one day. Early spring is the most amazing time here when you can sometimes experience the four seasons all in the same day. I can easily go from heavy rain to a clear sunny mild day, to a wintery shower of snow within the hour.
This past weekend hasn't been quite that, but it's been amazingly spectacular. Friday was a gloriously sunny day, albeit freezing cold, with Caribbean-blue skies. The following day saw a dull cloudy, somewhat miserable, day. Sunday was bizarre one, at least in London. We were effectively inside a giant cloud, which seemed like a thick wet fog. The temperature was such that the tiny water particles caught by cobwebs, ropes and strings, became frozen in place. This brought to prominence all the otherwise invisible webs everywhere. They could be seen on windows, doors, fences, between branches, everywhere. Amazing patterns woven by spiders, and other web spinning creatures, were given volume and visibility. Combined with the fogginess of the atmosphere, it created a surreal Halloween-like vibe around the city. ☀️🕸
Some snow came down overnight (which I saw since I was awake at the time), which means most Londoners woke up to a blanket of white snow on their streets and gardens and across rooftops as far as the eyes can see. I was hoping for a sunny morning, which didn't happen, sadly, but still the sight of little children running around enjoying the snow, and the speed at which snowmen went up in my neighbourhood first thing in the morning, was equally delightful. So much joy. ❄️
Apparently many schools were closed today because not enough staff could make it in to make it a safe place for children. That's the thing with this city - we're not really equipped to handle proper snow. This isn't even proper snow yet. I have a feeling today would have been any regular day in countries like Finland, The Netherlands or Switzerland. I remember being in Amsterdam once after a snowstorm. Everything froze. Unlike in the UK, however, they just got on with it over there. The frozen canals simply provided more options for people to get to work on skates!
Anyhow, nature is beautiful still. It would be nice if it snowed like this, or more, 12-13 days from now when it really matters :)
Peace & Love,
Adé
