If you want to solve backyard mysteries with me, come here.
In a street where rectangular parcelled plots are the majority, as a result of the placement of similar buildings in the middle of the plot, two areas are formed, the front garden and the back garden, where you can touch the soil.
Since the first of these, the front garden, will also be the entrance of the house or building, the ground is usually covered with concrete or ceramic stone to keep it clean. Everyone who comes to the house or building sees the front garden, so the most organised place is usually the front gardens, but it is open to debate to what extent it is correct to cover the soil with concrete or similar structures to maintain order.
The real mystery is in the backyard, and since the backyard is not very visible, it can be used for storage or to fulfil the needs of the house. There is also no need to cover the soil.
Let's take a look at the backyard!
In the back garden where different vegetables were planted, the cat family camouflaged itself in the greenery and was the only living creature I saw there. Not counting the ants and other pests hidden in the soil.
The puppies are too curious and timid!
The peppers and the beans at the foot of the wall have been affected by the midday heat and they have released their leaves towards the soil, crying out their longing for water. On the other side of the wall is a fig tree and we are at the beginning of fig season, but it belongs to another house!
Aubergines seem to be more resistant and more efficient than others. They have all the ingredients to make fried aubergines and peppers and they are very attractive! I'm hungry! lolol
Pumpkins seem to be the most productive and richest crop in the backyard. Both the area they cover and the courgettes they grow are quite large.
Fresh cowpeas and okra stand out as other food sources in the back garden. Some of them are so intertwined that I can tell what is on them by the vegetables on them, and I do not take into account the ones that grow spontaneously. There is a different richness in many parts of the garden because spontaneously growing purslane and nettles are usable food sources.
The backyards of the houses on the street are usually between 30 and 100 square metres, this is more related to the building on the parcelled plot. Some are single flat houses, some are double flat houses. This was a remarkable backyard because it was well maintained and could fulfil most, if not all, of the needs of a house. Only the order of the vegetables could have been more organised. But every bit of land was well utilised. It was a good habitat for the cat family.
