It appears the wholly bears are having a good year this year. There was a pile of them all by the house and we found them when going out to soak. I've been seeing more and more of them as the summer has gone on.
I had to pickup grain before dropping my orders at the co-op so thankfully dropped the boys at school so I could leave early. By leaving when I do I am able to get past the bulk of the schools before the kids start arriving and bogging down the traffic. Even at that north Monroe is a shit show since they reduced the lanes.
I ended up having just one barrel to load and after some creative shuffling I managed to get it in the bed of the truck. It is a major pain to lock down one barrel on the trailer compared to a pair. I then headed out to the valley to drop off the 200 pounds of summer squash at the co-op.
Once home I dumped the barrel of grain but they all had just had a load to peruse to weren't running for it like before.
The squash are in a lull now and may recover, I got a meager 8 pounds. I am noticing spots on leaves which likely means the continuous reduction in production. The lost month at the beginning really has hit the production level, I am only at 57% of last year's squash harvest.
I also went through my cucumbers as I have a couple hundred sold for Tuesday. I ended up throwing out 240 cucumbers that had gone bad. The animals and birds all were quite happy with it, but me not so.
The rest of the day my focus was on the studio and by the end I was getting my table setup. First was the blocking in the wall.
Then I installed the laminate flooring as my wall. The bottom courses were a slightly different version of the same manufacturer. They are a bit wider and where I had to switch back to the normal version there is a seam. I see it but whatever, the wall is in.
The metal is all fastened down and the wall is nearly finished save the last little piece at the top.
It then took me a couple hours to get the other wall in. I had to make a number of cuts for the outlet boxes which took a bit of time.
By 4pm I had my table mounted back in the studio.
The other sheet of aluminum needed to be flattened so I took the mallet to it then stomped the board which worked out the bulk of the unevenness.
My glass studio is taking shape and my station is falling into place. The kiln is in its place and plugged in waiting for the new power run.
I was not paying close enough attention and J got a fire going in the big pit for grilling. I made him standby with the hose until it burned down enough. Both boys spent their time chopping wood while I grilled our burgers.
We watched the recent Battlebots episode with dinner and then got in our soak time.
So much to do today and only so much will to get it done so I will see just how much I can get done today.
