WIND, Tilling, BFE

Holy crap was the wind blowing like mad most all day yesterday. The storms had blown through monday and with the passing the backside brought sustained 35+ mph winds. This IS North Dakota where the wind is seemingly constant. We checked out of our hotel and headed back to the house for a few hours. After being at the house for a little while the rains came barrelling through and dumped some much needed rain. The wind was so strong still that the moisture dried from the surface pretty quickly.

My MIL asked me to till her garden for her and I was watching the weather closely for my opportunity. Once the bands of cells blew past I got out and ran the tiller for an hour or so. It is not a big area so it didn't take to terribly long. It did work my arms and upper back such that I went in and laid down for a bit to rest. It helped to get my body back feeling better. After a while we gathered our things and packed the car for the drive to my SIL's farm.

The wind was still blowing like mad as we drove up but once we turned east we had a super tail wind. Watched the gas mileage go up a lot with the tail wind. We unpacked and then hung out and talked after eating. It was late when we got to bed and holy balls did I need sleep.

Today is a massive gathering here as a last blast for my SIL's friend who is moving back east. There will be TONS of kids running ALL OVER this farm. This is the middle of nowhere, BFE, with only room to run. Hopefully the ticks aren't flooding the fields yet so everyone can roam freely. At some point today I will be going out to see the mini donkey they now have, it will be a big reminder of my childhood and my pair of mini donkeys.
