It was one of those days where you don't feel all that inspired. One where that wet-snow crap was predicted which you know ill make the sky feels so cold. I wasn't feeling it at all this day. You also know this feeling. One that you don't really come off of the couch for not really any reason, but also one where you know it is better to go for a walk.
Luckily there is a dog in this house and he is always the reason to drag your 'I feel so sorry for myself' ass out of the house and into the nature. And it was beautiful
In the actually snow winter days I also walked here. The lake was packed with people enjoying iceskating and having a nice outdoorsy trip, while I even smelled some woodfire and there and also the smell of alcohol was here, which reminded me of skiing trips. Snow, wood, beer. Hell yeah.
None of this all was here not. It was more piece and quiet as the sky turned over from color every couple of minutes. In this area you really see that it was discoverd during the covid times by hikers. All of a sudden the weekends were busy, while often when I come here on week days, you wouldn't find a soul. It was here that I learned that my dog turned out to ba a fantastic swimmer actually.
At a certain point while walking I saw some movement in the distance. Now I know that I always go through a fence and that this could mean that cattle is there, but I didn't actually expect the cattle to be there.
And it was there. And so I walked around for a bit. You never know how the collisions of grazing cattle in combination with dogs are. Especially when there are calves involved as you see on the picture. When calves are involved all feels different always, unpredictable in some kind of way.
Once around the other side of the fence we decided to take a look again from a distance, which felt a lot more safe. I really am not afraid of animals at all, but just cautious about their behavior.
Just after this shot was taken two people and their dog came walking up. I was surprised to see the man and the dog walk directly through the middle of the pack. I knodded my head and thought something of this. But after the man and the dog had walked through one of the bulls walked towards the lady places the horns forwards. To me that would be a sign to take off, and the lady felt that as well and stood behind a tree and said she was scared
The man said that there was no need for that (uhhhh whut?) and went to pick her up. It felt bold and stupid all at the same time if you would ask me. I honestly don't get how stupid people tend to act around animals which are 1000 kilos. But as always who am I?
I shook my head, collected my dog who was ofcourse staring at all of this waiting to jump on in and when home
In Holland more than 500 herds of wild cattle are used to manage forest bushes and trees. Because of this grazing diversity in forestation is created. This is a low cost solution in forests where it is not preferenced to have heavy machinery in here to do the same job. These animals are chipped so it can be checked if their food intake is good enough.
Throughout the year these animals are moved a couple of times to make sure that they have enough area to eat from as well as that multiple areas can naturally be grazed and maintained. A win-win
