I haven't been able to grow Peanut for a long time, just now. My last Peanut planting was when I was in High School at the age of 14. One of our previous subjects was called The Home Economic (THE). This (THE) subject has five options. Automotive, Electricity, Building Construction and Wood Works, Dressmaker, and Cooking. Of these, the subject I chose was Electricity because it was related to what I learned from my uncles that the completed course was Electronics Engineering.
But even though I chose the Electricity course, in each course we chose there was instruction on how to plant. And each of us is given our own place to plant. I remember, it was up to us to decide what we wanted to plant. And my choices are Watermelon, Okra, and Peanuts.
All my plants are healthy because the fertilizer I use in the soil is natural. It comes from dried animal feces. Because our area has a lot of animals such as goats, cows, buffaloes, chickens, and pigs and its excrement is drained into a sack of rice and turned into fertilizer on plants.
Six Peanuts Plant
Six Peanuts, because of the eight I planted only six survived. I also did not expect my peanut plants to survive because of the heat of the weather and I only planted them in the sand. Sand without stones, because I first sifted through the desert sand to remove small and large rocks before I used them.
I was just hoping that when I planted it and watered it every day it would sprout and grow. And I am not disappointed, I also watch it every day and observe it from morning before going to the office and in the afternoon when I get home. When I notice that the sand seems to be tightening, I dig around the plant so that its roots can breathe and water can easily flow into the roots.
Coming Soon to Harvest!
It will soon be harvested and you will know how much peanuts you have under each of its crops. In my study, peanuts before harvest take 4 to 5 months before harvest. In my current situation, this peanut is only 3 months old. But because of the heat of the weather, even watering it every day. It also matures and dries quickly unlike in countries with the right climate of heat and cold.
However, this planting is a good experience to know how long the plant nuts will last in the desert even if it is watered daily. It can also be seen in the other pictures that I have, that the peanut that I planted is still flowering and it still has small fruits under the branches and floating, which should be underground so as not to dry.
Last Scene
Last Scene. Because of my next blog about my peanut plant, I will pull it all out even if it is underage before harvesting. I want to extend the garden to make it a little longer, because the next thing I will plant here is the eggplant.
In my family, I am the only one who eats eggplant in any kind of cooking style. Stewed Eggplant, Fried Eggplant, Chopped Eggplant in Bagoong, and Tortang eggplant. These are just some of the eggplant dishes I know of and eggplant can also be added to Sinigang.
Simultaneously with the harvest of peanuts to come is the uprooting or removal of my corn crops. I am still thinking about what is the substitute of th corn after I pull it out and I also need to extend my corn planting box a bit.
Maybe, just wait for the next few days or weeks what I will plant. Because until now my chili seedling has not yet grown, that I would have replace the corn by the chili.
