Cleaning my garden...
The situation in my garden is chaotic....since yesterday I worked so hard to clean the clutter. There were old broken pots and other containers that really need to be disposed of. Although we had 35°C temperature, it didn´t matter, I cleaned -out everything and have gathered some cut branches which had been used the year before to support the cucumber and tomatoes. We also had broken wooden chair that can´t be repaired because the legs were rotten due to changing seasons.
And since I have a lot to throw away, I brought those green waste and the clay pots, wooden pieces that are no longer used as well as any rusty metals found in the cellar to the Mistplatz (Dumping Site) in our area that is about 2 kilometers from our house. The Department of Waste Management in Vienna had modernized almost all of the these sites, actually one of the most modern waste sites in the EU if not in the world. Not only Vienna is segregating the waste but in all of Austria and because of this principle, valuable materials are processed and recycled and again put to good use.
These dumping sites have its various huge containers and even roots of trees are separated into a special container. I had to throw the clay pots in the container for building rubble and that is the right one for those materials made of cement, rocks and pebbles or clay.
Wooden Silos For Salt ...
Each of these dumping sites have silos made of wood and they are used to store salt for winter. They used wooden material in building these silos since metal is problematic because of corrosion when in contact with salt. The MA 48 is responsible for keeping the streets clean (with or without the snow) and driveable to avoid accidents. They are also responsible for keeping the city green by maintaining the parks and streets and planting trees.
The Austrians have been segregating waste since decades that begun mid 80s. Nowadays, young people are more aware and also practice their own waste management.
Modernized dumping sites.....
And so we are really happy that most of these dumping sites in Vienna were modernized and it is so lovely to come here, you just have to park the car, empty your car with the waste and throw them in its respective containers. And that´s being practiced strictly since in each dumpsites, there are waste personnel guiding the dumpers.
