Greetings food lovers,
First, I would like to thank the community and
for making this contest possible.
I can say that my entry would be a little bit different from other entries but all in all, this has the same different medicinal values.
In this psychedelic salad, I'll be using seaweed that we locally call Lato in Cebu, Philippines or sea grapes. Although it's not exactly a vegetable we commonly consume it as a vegetable and today I'll be turning it into a colourful salad.
Lato is an edible seaweed that has the shape of a small bulb that has a liquid inside that has a little bit of salty taste.
The Ingredients
- Lato (seaweed)
- tomatoes
- cucumber
- ginger
- onion
- jalapeno
for the dressing - calamansi (citrus)
- pepper
- salt
The process
- First thing I did after I bought the ingredients was I made a deep cleaning first the seaweed. I cut the unwanted parts and made a deep wash.
- Second I follow the fruit and vegetables.
- Third, Time for beautification. Anyway you don't have to worry more since everything in this salad is just so easy to achieve you only have to do is to slice, combine and garnish.
the plating
- I placed seaweed on the plate
- I cut tomatoes in halves and made the decoration on the side look more attractive. I also slice the other tomatoes into small dice for the centrepiece.
- I follow the cucumber and repeat the procedure just like what did to the tomatoes.
- Next, I slice the jalapeno, onion and ginger into stripes.
- Cut the citrus and put it on the side, add just a little bit of rock salt since it's already salty. sprinkle pepper.
- Lastly, squeeze each lemon for the dressing.

I hope you enjoy my super salad. It's just easy to make but sometimes you have to be lucky to catch up the fresh lato seaweed here early morning.
