I live in a village somewhere in northern Nigeria. That part of the country is characterise by poverty and grossly lacking in social amenities. My post will focus on those things the village people can do for themselves without relying on the government for now. Even though some of the things are supposed to be the responsibility of the government, considering the village people are tax payers.
Water is life. In my village, water is one major challenge they are faced with right now. And since the government has turn a deft ears to their cry for a pipe bone water or boreholes, they should take the action of starting to dig wells for themselves. This action is very much needed in my community right now. Every year at this period of the year, water scarcity is always their major challenge, taking the action of every household to start the digging of well is something achievable, considering the fact that it requires little or nothing except willingness and strength which my community have in abundance as the village populations are mostly youths to dig the wells.

Every one is living in fear right now in my village. My country as a whole is faced with insecurity challenge. Boko haram , kidnappers, and bandits are on a rampage in my country right now. The northern region is the most affected. The action I want to see from my village is forming a strong vigilante group. The most targeted areas by these insurgents, are the villages. The action of creating this vigilante group in my village right now is most needed, with that, they will be doing their part in securing themselves and properties. This time in my country is not the time to rely in the government, because. Even the government seem to be confused of the actions to take to solve this insecurity problem in my country. Security should be everyone's or village responsibility.
I have chosen to talk on these two, not because they are only needs, but because they are the most needed right now in my community and the people in my community can do something about the things I have mentioned above, since it requires no money to do them, especially as I have the knowledge the village people are mostly poor people.
