To say this was an amazing experience is an understatement.
There are absolutely no words to express what it was like to be here, be among so many likeminded spirits, in this beautiful place here in Bonfil, Acapulco.
But I'll try my best either way.
Home at last, after being 'stuck' for 3 more days
What torture, huh? Haha. No, it was good. We were here longer because the universe conspired for us to be here longer. It's all good.
After the event ended on Friday night, there was a turtle release at the beach and I felt like that was something we needed to experience, so I decided to stay a day or two longer.
It was worth it. Then I had booked the plane tickets for Monday, but received an email two hours later saying the booking was cancelled. Bummer!! Another day here in paradise. It really sucked haha.
I finally managed to book our tickets for Tuesday night, costing me an arm and a leg... So we got home Wednesday at around 2.30 am. I had to start work right away at 3 am, which took a different turn also. But more about that another time...
The experience, the people, the atmosphere, and the love
I've decided to write about my first impressions first, and maybe add some photos, and then upload some of the footage I have. I'm going to need faster internet for that, so will have to visit friends for that.
The launch party
This was at an extra (steep) charge but I knew that it would be worth it, and the best opportunity to talk to some of the speakers before they get too busy speaking...
It was also completely my night because the kiddos didn't join me for this one.
I had 2 drinks that night, and managed to steal one little snack from one of the waiters. So no, I didn't get my money's worth from that haha.
The first 30 minutes or so were where I felt old fashioned awkward just being there, knowing no one really. The funny thing is that the only person I knew personally was actually Jeff Berwick himself. So I did say hello, we talked for about 5 minutes, and that was that. I wasn't there for him after all.
These first 30 minutes of awkwardness was exactly what I experienced the first time I went to Steemfest in Lisbon. After that, someone started talking to me, and the rest is history. Friends for life!!!
Pretty much the same happened this time. After the 30 minutes just standing there, politely smiling at people, and with drink in hand, I decided to go where the cool kids go: the smoking area. It was the right choice to make because I wasn't even there 2 minutes when my new bestie started talking to me.
Meet John from Liverpool.
That broke the ice, and before I knew it, I felt quite at home at Anarchapulco, meeting more and more people every minute.
Seeing the people I came to see, plus meeting some of the loveliest, awake, and good people on this planet, was absolutely worth all the hassle and money to get there. This night gave me some more hope: we're not alone.
Between the people here on Hive, the people at Anarchapulco, the little surprise we've experienced with the people of Agorapulco (more about that in another post), and the people here in Playa who are part of the crypto community and freedom cell...I know now: we're going to be just fine.
This past week I've learned so much. There are communities building everywhere. Tiny homes, eco villages, communities collaborating with the local people, small towns, bigger towns, etc. There are numerous people finding and building solutions right now, and not just talk about it. It gives me hope for the future. For the future of our children. Something I didn't really have much of before this.
Mexico is truly the place to be. We came to the right place, at the right time.
We are IT. We'll be the change we've all been looking for. United.
And this 'thing', whatever it is, it's spreading. This morning I heard some good news from Michael Tellinger. His idea of a small Ubuntu village is coming off the ground now with the help of local authorities in South Africa. There's an awakening happening everywhere, everywhere!!!
And we are all here to witness it!
What a GREAT time to be alive!
Be sure to keep an eye on this space, because I have lots of music, stories, and other stuff to share from Acapulco. And also, of course, the rest about our life...Stay tuned!
