Before answering this question, I would like to write the difference between Guru and Teacher. I did a little research to understand the difference between these two words.
In this process, I saw some sources (articles and videos) come from India. I hope I will be there one day.
Now let's look at the difference between Guru and Teacher:
-- Guru: a person who is believed to be at the highest point of his spiritual power. A Guru does not need to know, it is enough to see. A person cannot become a Guru afterward. He is born as a Guru.
-- Teacher: A person whose job is to teach knowledge. In order for a teacher to teach something, she/he must learn. The person does this job as a profession.

Once I understand the difference between Guru and Teacher, I can easily answer the question.
Definitely yes. I need someone to grow spiritually. And I can do that with the best Guru. I've met a lot of teachers since the first day I started school. I learned a lot from these teachers. Most of them were related to school subjects. There were also teachers that I took as role models for me. But after I grew up I realized that I needed a Guru spiritually.
My religion gives me what I need to grow spiritually. I consider myself lucky in this regard. The Guru who guided me is not alive now. That person was alive 1400 years ago. Many aspects of him continue to guide me. For example, his lifestyle, his daily life, his relationship with people, his compassion, etc.
Sometimes when I do something wrong I think of Him. I think about his life. I ask myself what would he do if he experienced something like this. This thought has a positive effect on me and I try not to make that mistake again. His presence gives me peace. That person is Muhammad, the prophet of the religion of Islam.

Bazen yanlış bir şey yaptığımda O gelir aklıma. O'nun hayatını düşünürüm. O böyle bir şey yaşarsa ne yapardı diye sorarım kendime. Bu düşünce bana pozitif etki yapar ve o hatayı bir daha yapmamaya çalışırım. O'nun varlığı huzur verir bana. O kişi İslam dininin peygamberi Muhammed'dir.
