Yesterday was an auspicious day. It was Purnima, and Indians considered it as one of the auspicious day to begin new project or to perform some task or rituals, which would give good result in future. So not missing out on the important ocassion, we too choose to perform Bhumi Puja on an empty piece of land. On middle of continous rainfall, thanks to Cyclone Yaas. it get done easily.
It was a spare piece of land, adjacent to our home. We have been planning to carry important work on that piece of land and finally yesterday , atleast we perform the puja. Considering it was an auspicious day, and after performing the puja we can start the construction anytime later.
Bhumi pooja is a ritual performed in honour of Goddess Bhumi and Vastu Purush (deity of directions). Bhumi or Bhoomi means Mother Earth. This pooja is believed to eradicate the ill effects and Vastu doshas in the land and pave the way for a smooth construction and good vibes.
Our priest, gave an auspicious time. The puja must need to happen between 11.30AM to 13.00 PM. So we make sure to arrange all the items on time.
Firstly, an earthen Pot, and a glass of cow milk mixed Ganga Jal. Due to rain we try to customize the ocassion as much as possible. The all important , Prasadam which always make way for fruits or sweets. But this time we only had fruits.
We already dug up a place on that plot. We reach to the empty plot, and the priest started own rituals. It is important to build the compound wall before constructing the house. It specify the area and also the puja will be for that piece of land.
In middle of continois rainfall, we loved to get drenched and accordingly we do not had any umbrella. I was taking out the picture, and the priest carryingnout its own mantras and rituals in middle of the rain. Everyone was making sure to get the puja done smoothly. We had many issues as well, litting the diyas, incense stick, dhoop etc was not possible out there. Still we are trying to cover everything.
Well to bring good fortune and vibes the priest place a small bowl.of rice on the ground which was digged earlier. The small bowl was kept on top of cowdung, which is always considered to be auspicious. He placed a diya later on.
Sooner he completed all other formality of the puja. While we made sure to perform it smoothly. It was my uncle who performed all the rituals on our behalf.
And finally we ended the auspicious day on a high note. Finally the things which was getting delayed for so many years was completed. Now it's upto us to start the construction anytime later in the year.
Be it Covid, or Cyclone, our culture never let them to stop us from.perdorming our rituals. Lunar day is always considered auspicious and we made full use of it.
