I'll admit that I haven't been going outside as much as usual lately. I never find myself lacking in motivation, but it's been dangerously frigid at night.
While I bundle up, I need my hands to properly feel things and research items on my phone. I wind up taking my gloves off often and my fingers gradually get very cold. I fight through it, but there comes a point when I feel the urgent need to get inside. If I try to keep going, I can't do it well. It's even worse when I find things that I need to carry leaving my hands out of my pockets in the biting wind.
I tried to go out earlier this week and lasted about 40 minutes before my hands burned. I didn't get too far, but found this working self-balancing hoverboard. It still had a charge, but I just need to get a replacement power supply for about $15.
I literally sighed when I found it because I had to expose my burning hands to carry it back. I couldn't leave it though. I had gloves, but they were no good after my fingers were throbbing. While the answer should be to use thicker gloves, I can't feel anything outside the bags, open the bags, or grab things in the bags with them. The gloves with fingertips to touch cell phones aren't good because they're thin.
So, I'm writing this now after a short walk earlier, trying to find the guts to go out on one of the coldest nights now. I might skip the rest. It's just dreadful out there and not worth the agony on my hands. We'll see how I feel after getting this post out.
Here are 6 more items saved and sold:
I sold this ~13 pound bag of LEGO Duplo bricks and figures to a father buying them for his 2 year old daughter. Here they are today an hour after the $100 cash sale. I probably could've gotten another $20, but he seemed to be on a budget.
Salvaged from the curbs... years of fun for a toddler... That's why I do this.
Someone reached out about buying the rest of what I have. This would be a Godsend to clear space. Inclement weather cancelled their trip last weekend, but this opportunity is still in play.
I sold this vintage Italian headband for $45. Taking items like these isn't my usual, but it had a distinct brand name under the rim and was of very high quality.
I sold two of these motorized audio mixer sliders untested (for parts) for a total of $60. I have plenty more as I found the two mixers with 16 total channels (one slider per channel). I've sold 3 so far.
I may be selling another one soon to a Baptist Church that's trying to teach "young people different musical instruments and logic pro music software." I was tempted to give it to them for half price, but they were concerned about buying something that was untested with church funds.
I sold these two yacht club annual books for $53. I have another set of 4 more that I'm seeking $95 for. These aren't too popular, but they're super rare to find in the older years. It's just a matter of time until the right shopper comes along and realizes that this is likely they're only shot to get them for a while.
I sold this small scanner glass part untested for parts for $40. The scanner had an error, which was unlikely from this part, so I tossed it up for sale with about 8 other parts. The entire working used scanner constantly sells online for about $175. This is my second or third scanner of the same model I've parted out like this.
Lastly, this trio of LEGO Duplo reindeer sold for $32. I still have a bunch of figures like these that'll sell over the upcoming months.
Summary:
- 6 items sold for $330 revenue = $55 each.
- 30% received as cash.
- No repair or parts costs.
- All items shipped with recycled packages and padding.
I've also been focusing a lot on crypto defi since it's picking up nicely. This has been taking some pressure off of wanting to drop my profits from the curbs into tokens on the dip.
As those who know me over the years can appreciate, the value in my post isn't in the entertainment from the handful of items I post about. It's about the passion and hustle I consistently exhibit off-chain to produce the posts, and goal of motivating others to address this problem. Hive is not the answer for me. It's a platform to promote a good cause. Actions in the real world are the answer in my book.
Thanks as always for your interest and support.
