It's a hard one to pick just one word from Korean words that I find beautiful or powerful. My favourite words came rushing to me and I couldn't stop smiling or laughing or feeling excited about them. I don't have a one favourite word when it comes to Korean words, they are from the kdrama series I've seen, unforgettable.
Out of the many words I know and love the most from the Korean words, "Daebak λλ°" is one of my favourite, a word that shows an expression that I love to see in kdrama. Daebak λλ° means "Cool, Awesome, Wow or Amazing". It's an expression to describe anything one finds super great from food to music and even to the mood.
To me, the expression is a very lively one and makes one curious about what it found interesting to bring out that expression. I'm yet to see a face that didn't do the facial expression well enough as I think mere saying the word and trying to look surprised or impressed makes it a perfect look. Even non Koreans make it so well.
I remember how cute I find this word in the series "My Girlfriend is a nine tailed Fox", I think it was the first series I noticed the word in. The main character made a memorable expression when she said the word to seeing another character do something she had never thought was in existence. Lovely faces have the best expression.
But I was even more intrigued to see a villain in a story make the facial expression with the word, Daebak. I'm sure I'm not the only kdrama lover who thinks some villains are more loved than the protagonists in a story. I think it's a big turn on for me when I see any character do the facial expression with the word even if it's an evil villain.
I love to think that the word is very unique to the Koreans, even in their historical series, it's used in a refined and traditional way. I'm wondering if there's a song that used it perfectly for it's lyrics, would be a nice listen for me lol. I just finished an historical series that explored the food theme where characters cook and taste lots of meals.
I noticed I missed the word being used but the expression was all there, on the faces after tasting each meal. I read somewhere that the word "Daebak" is mostly used by the locals and young adults, now I understand why I've not seen an older Korean use the word. I bet it would definitely be a memorable sight to see one lol.
There is a rushing of emotion when this word is said, especially excitement and surprised. Well, I've got only these to say about the word out of the ones I know and can pronounce well enough. Do let me know in the comment section which Korean word you know and can pronounce well.
