On this occasion I would like to talk about fashion because in some way it is a transcendental issue that always occupies our minds, even more so considering that over the years the changes are very relevant, and I will take as a reference the change that has arisen in her for 40 years. Here is my participation in this initiative:
En esta oportunidad me gustaría hablar de la moda porque de alguna manera es un tema trascendental y que siempre nos ocupa la mente, más aun considerando que al pasar de los años los cambios son muy relevantes, y tomaré como referencia el cambio que ha surgido en ella a lo largo de 40 años. A continuación mi participación en esta iniciativa:

Hace 40 años, qué recuerdas como mujer -vs- lo que está pasando en el mundo de hoy. Un recuerdo, y cuál ha sido el cambio, si positivo o negativo.
Throughout my 54 years of life, I can assure you that one of the moments where I most enjoyed the variations of fashion was during my youth, since I could afford to wear everything I wanted without worrying if it looked good or bad. I liked almost everything that was in fashion and I bought it immediately, apart from that I had the satisfaction that my mother was a professional seamstress and she made my own designs for me, but there was an accessory that was not only essential in my wardrobe, but also I had them in various sizes, square, oval, rectangular, some thinner than others, what is it? Of the famous shoulder pads.
A lo largo de mis 54 años de vida, puedo asegurar que uno de los momentos donde más disfruté las variaciones de la moda fue durante mi juventud ya que podía darme el lujo de ponerme todo lo que quisiera sin preocuparme si me quedaba bien o mal, casi todo lo que estaba de moda me gustaba y lo adquiría de inmediato, aparte de eso tenía la satisfacción de que mi madre era costurera profesional y me confeccionaba mis propios diseños, pero había un accesorio que no sólo era indispensable en mi vestuario, sino que las tenía en variados tamaños, cuadradas, ovaladas, rectangulares, algunas más delgadas que otras, ¿De qué se trata? De las famosas hombreras.
During the 80s, and part of the 90s, it could be said that shoulder pads were permanently in fashion and caused a great furor in women's wardrobes, in my personal case they became an accessory without which I could not go out if It dealt with the use of shirts, chemise-style flannels, wide flannels, jackets, sweaters, short and long-sleeved blouses, in short, everything that had sleeves and did not stick to the body. The addiction to this fashion style was so great that when I put on a shirt without them I felt uncomfortable, they provided my wardrobe with the elegance it needed.
Durante los años 80, y parte de los 90, se podría decir que las hombreras estuvieron permanentemente de moda y causaron un gran furor en el vestuario de las mujeres, en mi caso personal se convirtieron en un accesorio sin el cual no podía salir si se trataba del uso de camisas, franelas estilo chemise, franelas anchas, chaquetas, sueters, blusas manga corta y larga, en fin, todo aquello que tuviera manga y no quedara pegado al cuerpo. Fue tanta la adicción a este estilo de moda que cuando me ponía una camisa sin ellas me sentía incómoda, ellas le proporcionaban a mi vestuario la elegancia que necesitaba.

The shoulder pad is part of the internal structure of elegant men's jackets, but there was also a rage in the 1980s with the release of exotic and extravagant suits with huge shoulder pads created by various fashion designers who later decided to form a group musical, it is the Spanish group Locomía, who within their costumes had the shoulder pad as the protagonist.
Pero hablemos un poco de la historia de este accesorio tan particular en el vestuario de las mujeres, y en cierto modo, también de los hombres. La hombrera forma parte de la estructura interna de los sacos elegantes de los hombres, pero también fue un furor en los años 80 la salida al mercado de los exóticos y extravagantes trajes con inmensas hombreras creados por varios diseñadores de moda que luego decidieron formar un grupo musical, se trata del grupo español Locomía, quienes dentro de su vestuario tenían como protagonista a la hombrera.
The shoulder pad was first used in the 15th century to highlight the virility of men and differentiate themselves from commoners in society, later it was used in the 19th century to protect American football players.

In the 1930s, the shoulder pad was used in military outfits worn by widows to work, and later, a designer introduced it to women's fashion. This is how the piece caused a furor in the 50s, 70s, and when the 80s arrived, it became an essential element in the women's wardrobe.
Two very nice anecdotes from my younger years were; one, when the boys saw us with them placed under the shirts they told us that we looked like a football player or armor... and the other, that I remember one of them who said that the shoulder pad was the best invention for boyfriends because when It made them sleepy and they leaned against the bride's shoulder, they already had a little pillow built in, hahahaha.
En los años 30, la hombrera fue utilizada en trajes militares que usaban las viudas para salir a trabajar, y más adelante, una diseñadora la introdujo en la moda femenina. Es así como la pieza causó furor en los años 50, 70, y al llegar los 80 se convirtió en un elemento imprescindible en el ropero de las mujeres.
Dos anécdotas muy simpáticas de mis años mozos fueron; una, cuando los chicos nos veían con ellas colocadas debajo de las camisas nos decían que parecíamos un jugador de fútbol americano o una armadura… y la otra, que recuerdo uno de ellos que dijo que la hombrera era el mejor invento para los novios porque cuando les daba sueño y se recostaban del hombro de la novia ya tenían una almohadita incorporada, jajajaja.
Between jokes and memories of this elemental accessory in our wardrobe, I can say that today I can live without it, that it was hard for me to stop using it but fashion is sometimes a bit insistent and when it decides to take something out of the limelight it is already out of context use it, that's how women are. I now like to wear my shirts without shoulder pads, and I think that the only way to wear them again is for fashion to return, which would not seem strange to me, or for the suit to merit it, as in the case of the blazer, which is almost mandatory. place shoulder pads to make it look more elegant.
Entre chistes y recuerdos de este accesorio tan elemental en nuestro vestuario, puedo decir que hoy en día puedo vivir sin él, que me costó dejar de usarla pero la moda es a veces un poco insistente y cuando decide sacar algo del protagonismo ya está fuera de contexto usarlo, así somos las mujeres. Me gusta usar ahora mis camisas sin hombreras, y creo que la única manera de que la vuelva a usar es que regrese la moda, que no me parecería extraño, o que el traje lo amerite, como el caso del blazer, que es casi obligatorio colocarle hombreras para que luzca más elegante.
