1οΈβ£Whatβs one big decision you made recently that changed something in your life? πππ / ππ ~ 2οΈβ£ What dream did you achieve that your younger self would be proud of?
While growing up, I liked seeing my aunties dress up in the morning, leave for work, and come back in the evening. I loved helping people achieve their dreams. In the case of my working aunties, I will wake up on time, clean their shoes, and help them prepare even as they also help me prepare for school. I nursed the dream of assisting individuals in navigating their problems, providing suggestions and ideas that will help solve challenges where I am.
Again, I observe people's moods and show concern. While growing up, I once heard my aunt narrating the bitter experience she had while looking for a job and the rejections she got. I felt bad and wondered how I could have helped, assuming I had grown up.
Today, that dream is fulfilled in my role as an HR. This role has allowed me to offer solutions, assist individuals in navigating their life journey. Providing support to individuals to make sure that they grow, are sound, hale, and hearty, with the right mindset to work and deliver set goals. This is exactly what my younger self would be proud of.β
My younger self wanted me to be someone of good integrity, someone people will entrust confidential information to, and it would remain safe and sealed.
In this role, to the best of my ability, I have implemented diversity, equity, and inclusion in all the companies I have worked for. I have also added value and impacted lives in my little and big ways.
Over the years, I have developed skills to tackle real challenges like conflict resolution, organisational structure issues, and change. I have assisted individuals and organisations in charting growth pathways while addressing organisational culture challenges. These are the kind of dreams my younger self would admire. I achieve.
Furthermore, I have learnt to act without bias, connect and communicate freely with deep listening and an honest heart. One filled with the desire to reposition and impact lives. This was what my younger self wanted.
Comparing my younger, stubborn, pathetic, and very logical girl to the professional and detailed person I have become today, I am proud to have affected and changed organisational structures. Influenced cultures that do not align with the intents and purposes of such organisations, while instituting one where employees have a voice, are safe, and proud of. Organisations where employees stay alive and keep thriving.
Looking back to my yesteryears, my younger self will be proud of my newest version, today, a professional human resources and MBA holder from Liverpool John Mooresβ University, a crypto enthusiast, out there, impacting lives, shaping people's future, assisting organisations to transform and reposition with visible growth and DEI.
