Hello #ladiesofhive, happy celebrations and a prosperous new year in advance. I am excited to be participating in the last prompt of the year 2025.
I am interested in the first prompt, which says,
“At the beginning of each year, it's important to set achievable goals. I invite you to write down those you know are possible. Let's be realistic and acknowledge your abilities and limitations.
The year comes with festive vibes and the buzz to make it big with Christmas, opening the door for giving and celebrating ourselves with our friends, family, and loved ones, but there again comes the burden of the new year. I call it a burden because some apprentices chose the new year as their year of launch after their settlement in December.
Some businesses choose January as their retreat period to plan, set departmental and organisational goals and objectives for their firm.
In the same vein, individuals also do the same, but not all; some believe it’s not necessary, while others believe it is vital to set goals and diligently work towards achieving these goals. I am in the percentage of those individuals who set goals.
Setting goals enables me to be focused throughout the year. It also gives me clarity of my purpose. It leaves me with a guide and direction towards these goals while I strategically work my way towards achieving my set goals.
However, that motivation to pursue my yearly goals is reduced after the first three months or when I encounter challenges and obstacles. I would find myself derailing from the plan and start slowing the pace. I hope to be more focused in 2026 in achieving my set goals, regardless of any challenge.
Having said that, I like setting SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound) goals. And for the year 2026, the ones that made my list include:
Completing my licensing examination: this is essential for me because it will put me in a better place in my field. In terms of practicing my role, make it safer to advise and give counsel when duty calls.
Secondly, I want to launch other streams of income; the days are unpredictable, and putting my eggs in one basket seems a big mistake. I have been unstable in creating other sources of income, but come 2026, I have plans to stabilise these avenues and make them count in my life.
Third, I would need to make some strategic career decision which may involve taking a step into a different professional direction.
Make some financial investments and savings for the electronic gadgets I have been craving for. These are my set goals for the year. They might look simple, but meeting them will mean a lot to me.
There is a popular saying that Rome wasn’t built in a day.” I will prayerfully, diligently, and strategically work towards the attainment of each of them, noting that the world is waiting for those who will make things happen. I will happen come Year 2026. It won’t happen to me by the grace of God.
