Ive visited a fair few off grid places and festivals, and one thing that always pissed me off was the state of the toliets.
I got the impression maybe most of them were not designed with women in mind and probably were not designed by women at all.
There was a recent incident I was on my moon cycle, often the first few hours to a day can be really unbearable for me. Sorry to be graphic but I will need to sit on the toliet for a while... well anyway i was staying at an offgrid place and it was pouring with rain, it was freezing and the outside toliet barely had walls or a roof, no seat. I had lots of layers but it was super awkward standing in the middle of this field in the pouring rain, cramping and much more happening the other side too.
Trust me if it was just a pee I would of been in the bushes.
So for me seeing this private menstruation toliet just for the ladies was kind of a nice relief. Granted I wasn't on my moon cycle that day but I just had this good feeling that at least no woman need go through a similar experience to mine.
And that this toliet had 4 walls and a door. It was a nice space unfortunately I didn't get pictures inside it was really dark since it was painted red. I did get some videos however so stayed tuned.
But basically there was a nice seat, and basin, papers the usual stuff but there was more space than your average cubicle and just had a relaxing and private vibe to it.
I think one of these spaces is a must on every off grid community, having a little comfort and privacy on the most sensitive time of your cycle is really needed. I also liked they provided information about what a womans moon cycle is, there isn't enough open dialogue about it. Woman have often be shamed because of it, and we need to honour and respect it. ❤
Thank you Huerto Roma Verde for being so thoughtful...
