Greetings everyone! Today I am pleased to participate in the Ladies of Hive Community Contest #75 where we are invited to talk each week about a different topic, this week I will answer the first question to invite you to know the city where I was born.

1.If we were to visit you, what is the "must-do" in your hometown? Would it be something to eat, a place to visit, a person to meet or something else?

I was born in a small place, Táriba, it is located just outside the city of San Cristóbal which is the capital of the state of Táchira in Venezuela. It is an Andean place, full of traditions and rich in culture. The warmth and cordiality of its people is something that characterizes this place.

1. Si fuéramos a visitarte, ¿Cuál es el "must-do" en tu ciudad natal? ¿Sería algo para comer, un lugar para visitar, una persona para conocer o algo más?

Nací en un pequeño lugar, Táriba, se encuentra a las afueras de la ciudad de San Cristóbal que es la capital del estado Táchira en Venezuela. Es un lugar andino, lleno de tradiciones y rico en cultura. El calor y cordialidad de su gente es algo que caracteriza a este lugar.
Saludos a todos! Hoy me complace participar en el Ladies of Hive Community Contest #75 donde nos invitan a hablar cada semana sobre un tema diferente, esta semana voy a responder la primera pregunta para invitarles a conocer la ciudad dónde nací.

I had the opportunity to bring my husband a few years ago to visit my town, he is Cuban and was visiting my country. I gave him a tour and he was amazed by this place. So much so that today we are settling our family in my hometown.

One of the essential stops in Táriba is the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation. This church is an icon of our region, even many people come from all over the country and abroad to visit the church, especially in the famous ferias de la consolación where they make a long walk from the city of San Cristobal to Táriba in the company of the image of the virgin to ask her for peace, health and welfare of her people.

Tuve la oportunidad de traer a mi esposo hace unos años a conocer mi pueblo, él es cubano y estaba de visita en mi país. Le di un recorrido que quedó maravillado de este lugar. Tanto que hoy en día estamos instalando nuestra familia en mi pueblo natal.

Una de las paradas imprescindibles de Táriba es la Basílica de nuestra señora de la consolación. Esta iglesia es un ícono de nuestra región, incluso muchas personas vienen de todas partes del país y del extranjero a visitar la iglesia, especialmente en las famosas ferias de la consolación donde se hace una larga caminata desde la ciudad de San Cristóbal hasta Táriba en compañía de la imagen de la virgen para pedirle por la paz, la salud y el bienestar de su pueblo.

This is an old building that has many stories, and has been maintained over time, standing after an earthquake in 1875 caused great damage and in 1960 a great fire affected much of the church. But today it is restored and continues to be a meeting point and reference point for the people.

Esta es una antigua construcción que tiene muchas historias, y se ha mantenido a través del tiempo, manteniendose en pie después que en 1875 un terremoto causara grandes daños y en 1960 un gran incendio afecto gran parte de la iglesia. Pero hoy esta restaurada y sigue siendo un punto de encuentro y de referencia para el pueblo.

Another place that is not to be missed in my city is the liberator bridge. Today it is a park for walking but when it was built it was used to connect the capital San Cristóbal with Táriba. And when crossing the bridge we find a monument to the navy which is a lighthouse that serves as a viewpoint to the city.

Otro lugar que es imperdible en mi ciudad es el puente libertador. Hoy es día es un parque para pasear caminando pero cuando fue construido servía para conectar la capital San Cristóbal con Táriba. Y al cruzar el puente nos encontramos un monumento a la marina que es un faro que sirve de mirador a la ciudad.

As for food, something we all look forward to when visiting a new place, would be to visit the traditional El huerto this place offers traditional Andean cakes and Creole drinks such as masato Andean, which is made from rice and pineapple. For as long as I can remember this place has been a reference for a breakfast or a snack, as for 3 generations its owners have run the place as a family and offer the best cakes in the area. It is a place not to be missed.

En cuanto a la comida, algo que todos esperamos al conocer un nuevo lugar, sería ir a visitar el tradicional El huerto este lugar ofrece los tradicionales pasteles andinos y bebidas criollas como masato andino, que se hace a base de arroz y piña. Desde que tengo memoria este lugar es referencial para un desayuno o una merienda, ya que desde hace 3 generaciones sus dueños atienden en familia el local y ofrecen los mejores pasteles de toda la zona. Es un lugar imperdible.

You can not visit Táriba without tasting the delicious typical sweets of the region, they are made with local products such as rice, milk and special sweets. You should also buy some handicrafts to take as souvenirs, especially the beautiful Andean dolls that use ruanas and beautiful hats. If you like liquor, you can not forget to try the traditional liqueurs made from fruit and cream punch.

No puedes pasar a visitar Táriba sin probar los deliciosos dulces típicos de la región, se hacen con productor criollos como arroz, leche y especial dulces. También debes comprar alguna artesanía para llevar de recuerdo especialmente las bellas muñecas andinas que utilizan ruanas y sombreros hermosos. Si te gusta el licor, no puedes olvidar probar los licores tradicionales hechos a base de frutas y el ponche crema.

I would be delighted to receive the visit of my hivers friends, I would gladly show them my hometown and I am sure they will come back soon.
