Christmas has always meant family time. It is the time where we can share with those family members that we can't see for work reasons or because of the distance where they live. This is why at Christmas we prefer to stay at home. It is the best excuse to enjoy decorating the home and preparing delicious meals to share.
Since my son was born, Christmas has become a date of great illusion because as parents we have always wanted to surprise him. I still remember when he would fervently write his letter to Santa. Many of these letters I have kept as a great treasure. I think that the warmth of home and one's own space gives children a lot of security when they are young.
Today my son is a teenager, his preferences are changing but he always has the illusion of this Christmas time, he is part of several typical activities of these holidays and helps a lot in the preparation of the Christmas Eve meal. It is nice to be able to pass on these customs and traditions to him as they will be part of his family history in the future.
Maybe next Christmas we will think about traveling, everything will depend on how well we plan it, for sure it has to be a place where we can share with part of the family.
