I am so happy writing about this prompt because everyone is guilty when it comes to this. We neglect our bodies and only care for them when we are sick. We fail to understand that our bodies should be taken care of. Most people see self-care as a waste of money. We are so ignorant about our health. But we maintain our cars, but the body driving the car is neglected. Most people lose their lives because they neglect their health. I don't know why we think that self-care is not important. I will not lie; I was once in the category of people that neglect self-care. Not until I was hit with an illness that almost took my life did I realise how important self-care is. I lived as if my body were wood. Everything about me then was work, work, no time for self-care. Back then, my mom would always tell me to take a break and care for myself. The very moment I broke down, that was when I realised how important self-care is.
Caring for our body and mind when we are not sick is the best thing we can do for ourselves to stay healthy and strong.
How I take care of my body and mind.
I try my best to eat healthy food for me to function well. Food is like a fuel that helps my body work better. I try my best to eat more natural food than junk food. I try my best to hydrate my body because it is very important.
If there is anything I don't joke with currently, it is taking tests. No matter how small they are, I will try my best to take a test. Even if it is a 30-minute rest, I make sure that I sleep up to 8 hours every day because by doing that, my system is repaired from stress.
If I must say, I learnt my lessons the hard way. I don’t need to wait to get sick before I visit the hospital; I go for regular check-ups to make sure I am okay little things we overlook are. Little capable of killing us. It is very important that we should always monitor my high blood pressure and sugar level; I call these two things 'silent killers'.
When it comes to mind, I try my best to avoid anything that will stress me. I don’t joke with my peace of mind and happiness and am ready to go to any length just to make sure that my mind is at peace.
My everyday routine helps me to stay strong and active. It is very important that we should always maintain our daily routine for our own betterment. Always remember to take care of your body.
