I absolutely, without a shadow of guilt, confess that these were the most sinfully delicious cupcakes I have ever made.
We looked around at the price of Easter eggs this year and were just absolutely gobsmacked at the ridiculous, highway-robbery-style pricing that retailers across the board were expecting parents to pay. Absolute extortion.
So, how could I make up for it? Well, I didn't just do that, I absolutely outdid myself!

Based on my absolutely unbeatable fluffy and moist vanilla cupcake recipe, these treats were kept under serious lock and key (but still eaten by me in the middle of the night by fridgelight! SSSSSShhhhhh :p).

The trick is to bake the cupcakes, and then let them rest for a day or two before cutting the holes for the Nutella, otherwise they are just too fragile.

I had an absolute disaster streak wth my piping gun, and all my piping bags (including my brand new silicone one😭). Everything broke on me! Eventually, I went back to my Grandma's very old-fashioned but solid piping bag and nozzles and managed to find the missing piece that holds everything all together, and it worked like a charm! They just don't make them like they used to!

I did send to get more disposable bags before I fixed my grandma's one, and he bought a very cute little piping gun. I must admit, he put me to absolute shame with his gorgeous piping techniques! And he's never even done this before!

For the icing, we used my traditional buttercream, and I split it into four different colours, filling the piping bag to create the rainbow effect that I love so much.

I did add a little splash of amarula liqueur to the mix, just for some extra special flavour!

Next, I got the kid involved, and we decorated using sprinkles, edible silver dust, and a new product, which is like a spray-on shimmer. They really looked so pretty, and we had so much fun with them, which was the whole point!

Well, the result was absolute decadence, and we even topped it all off with Cadbury's bunny chocolate squares, but to give it that Easter "touch of magic!"

They were truly fantastic!
