SO Halloween was a roaring success. The gorgeous red velvet cupcakes, topped with all manners of horrible Halloween appropriate fondant models - hand made by myself, the kids and my mom (which was super special)- were even guzzled by my colleagues who I am totally trying to win over with my baked goods :p
On Halloween itself, Zak took the kids on the very well organized Halloween walk, trick or treating form house to house in our area. The kids looked absolutely great!
's birthday happens to fall on the 31st so I thought It would be awesome to have her over and spoil her a bit for her birthday. I was actually really looking forward to it as we haven't had people over to visit in a long time.
We kind of shrunk back from socializing partly due to a lack of money, but also due to my deteriorating mental and physical state.
I have, for those of you who don't know, started working! Wow! What a difference that's made! I am actually working WITH , who's boss very graciously decided to take a chance on me. Honestly, after not working for two whole years, it's been a hell of an adjustment, both physically and mentally, but it was like I was thrown a life line at the last possible moment. And its a half day admin position that has relieved so much financial stress.
Anyway, so couldn't go to the Halloween walk, which took the kids to AND did most of their makeup (kudos babe! They looked amazing ad had so much fun) while I napped 😜😜
I did make sure we put up decorations for the following evening and planned to have a combo party of 's birthday, Halloween and my new job.
Well, we weren't even an hour into the party, I mean I hadn't even had a glass on wine yet, when the misshapen rubber matt on the stairs slid out beneath me and I crushed my foot as the entire weight of my body cam crashing down at an awful angle onto my foot. Joy. And I fell about a meter away from where I dislocated my knee (I am sure there is a sacred burial ground there or something).
Anyway, and
jumped straight into first aid mode. had unfortunately ripped the skin under my toe (between the toe and the foot) but was seriously more freaked out about how I fell.
I have been umming and aahing about whether or not to go see the Dr as I think I may have fractured my foot, but honestly, what are they gong to do that I am not already dong for my knees?
Rest
Elevate
Compress and
Ice?
Well, of course, if it were to turn out to be a bad break, or to have several factures, I would need to be placed into a moonboot or at worst, a cast.
I am brand new at my job. I am still working on a weekly wage basis and am paid per hour, which means no work, no pay. So I can't take sick leave. Also, my new boss took a massive risk, employing me with my knee issues. So have just been... sucking it up.
I did make an appointment to see my GP on Wednesday, but then cancelled my appointment as I was just in tears and so much pain. I have so much ptsd from my knee injury/ies and doctors not taking me seriously, that I just couldn't justify the extra expense.
I had a look at my medicine schedule though and realized I was due for a doctors visit anyway as I was out of repeats for my chronic meds, so I did a "two-in-one."
The doctor is concerned with the bruising, swelling and pain, that it could be a break or a fracture, but I have already been walking around like this for two weeks so I can't justify the expense of x-rays - especially if it just turns out to be a sprain (and then I will just feel like a real idiot).
has been wonderful, as always, at nursing me and my toe has healed beautifully. Lets hope that my foot gets better too!
