So my friend Jessica and I went to go see one of our dear friends perform at the Cottage Club on Friday, but we left early so we could go for lunch and a bit of an adventure. A celebration of my birthday and for finishing my 1st book!
We didn't have a plan and let our noses guide us, and we ended up at Café Roux in beautiful Noordhoek.
Cape Town is truly a phenomenally beautiful place to live. It's like we have several countries, all in one, and within driving distance!
The food was absolutely spectacular and we both enjoyed a great pale ale <3
Jess is a vegetarian, so she had the crumbed deep-fried blue cheese stuffed mushroom burger:
I had a spectacular pizza with salami, cherry tomatoes, feta and basil pesto. To die for! And I', full of nonsense when it comes to pizza. My favourite pizza is obviously made by and
but this was an excellent runner-up. A great traditional woodfired base (perfect texture and a thin base - but not too thin). I have become a fan of sourdough bases lately, but a good old-fashioned proper Italian base is also great.
Pizza must be made with love - that goes for all food! Do it right or don't bother.
From lovely food to spectacular views, we had an awesome day out. I shall make a separate post for the evening concert at the Cottage Club.
