Life is too short for me to worry too much, and that's something I do remind myself of every day of my life. The way in which I start my morning isn't perfect or fancy, but it's very intentional. One thing I have come to realize is that morning sets the tone for everything else, so I try to begin my morning with calmness rather than with chaos.
Whenever I wake up in the morning, I don't just jump up but lie still for a few minutes. I like waking up gently without rushing straight into problems or unexpected expectations. Before checking my phone or thinking of any responsibility, I take a few moments to just breathe and pray to be thankful that I am alive and I have another day to try again; it usually gives me a sense of peace.
It helps me release the pressure to have everything figured out.
I typically play worship songs before praying, then praise after praying, and then it's time for chores so I can lift my spirits up because music plays a big role in the morning. There is something comforting about music; it relaxes my mind and reminds me that there is more to life than the constant tensions around me On the days when I wake up earlier than usual, I like stepping outside and enjoying the fresh morning air.
In Port Harcourt, early hours can feel calm. Sometimes I take a quick, short walk, letting my thoughts flow freely. I don't like my morning feeling like a race. I just want it to feel like a reminder that I'm human, growing, and doing my best.
