Hi, Hivers and wonderful ladies of the Ladies of Hive community. This week, I was invited by , last week by
, even though I had no time to answer the contest. However, here I go this week to join and answer one of the questions proposed by
for this week.
And I pick to answer:
1️⃣ If we were to visit you, what is the one "must-do" in your hometown?
Would it be something to eat, a place to visit, a person to meet, or something else?
When many people hear of Caracas, they only think of the headlines that sell it as a dangerous city. And, indeed, this city can sometimes be a bit unkind and unfriendly, but it also has its good things. And among other things, Caracas is a beautiful city. And if you ever visit even for a day, this is what I would take you to do.
When we come back from picking you up at the airport early in the morning, you will probably be hungry. So let's have breakfast. As we enter the city and drive along the highway, you will probably be struck by two tall towers.
The Towers of Parque Central are two skyscrapers in Caracas's city center, built between the late 70s and early 80s. They are 225 meters high. When built were the tallest skyscrapers in Latin America. Nowadays, they are among the ten tallest buildings in South America.
For breakfast, I will take you to eat Empanadas. My favorites are the ones filled with Cazón (shredded dogfish) or the ones with cheese and fried plantains. You will want to have many for sure, but I will recommend you only to eat two. So you can try other things.
After eating, we will pass by the Esfera de Soto on the motorway to take one of the photos that have become a classic in the city.
The Esfera de Soto or Esfera Caracas. Now is considered one of the city landmarks. And it is the work of the Venezuelan plastic artist Jesús Soto who was one of the greatest exponents of kinetic art in the world.
And since we are so close, I will take you to Bolivar Park. So you can take pictures of the Avila, which although you can see it from almost all over the city, and you can photograph it from many points, here you can admire it in all its splendor.
Then as you followed my recommendation and only ate two empanadas. I'll take you to try the Cachapas, which are fried corn cakes made with fresh corn. After that, we can't miss a Cocada, a cold drink, like a coconut milkshake, made with coconut, milk, and sugar or condensed milk.
Then we will take a drive through Altamira, where you can get off at Plaza Altamira. Or Plaza Francia, its official name, after an agreement between both countries, to have a square France in Caracas and one Venezuela in Paris. This square is the epicenter of one of the most prosperous municipalities of the city, Chacao.
From there, we will go downtown to see the surroundings of the Plaza Bolivar in the center of the city. We can have a coffee in a nice coffee shop located near the square. Or have ice cream, in a parlor where besides the traditional flavors, there are some Venezuelan typical ones. Including some exotic ones made of fruits from the Amazon.
In the afternoon, I will take you to visit my cousin. Since on her terrace at sunset, the macaws roost on, and we can feed them. And I'm sure you will love this experience.
Then in the evening, we will go to the town of El Hatillo, to walk for a while so you can see the colonial houses of different colors.
In one of the many bars in the area, we'll grab some beers. And we'll have some tequeños, fried Sticks of white cheese covered with dough. You can't leave without trying them.
After this "Must Do" on a quick visit to Caracas. I hope that you will feel like staying a few more days or coming back another time.
I think that's all for now. I would like to invite my friends and
to come and visit me, hehe. But also to join the contest of this week.
This is my entry to Ladies of Hive Community Contest #75. If you made it this far, thank you very much for reading.
