I missed the amazing Women's day celebration at the office, and was travelling in Vietnam at that time!
And experienced a different page of Women's day in a new country, which was mesmerizing.
Normally, I have seen Women's day is mostly celebrated in the office with colleagues, more in a closed environment, and not much outside. In brief, here it is mostly celebrated where there are working women, not at home, not country-wise, not very festive around you, which I have felt was more like a burden of formalities, not sincerely enjoyable one!
But in Vietnam, it was a whole different story. I certainly forgot that, while I was emerging in my exciting travelling times.
I was residing with a foreign family in Hanoi as a guest at that time, and the lady is a school teacher. The previous evening, I saw many students (mostly 10-12 years old mostly) bringing flowers, cards, and gift boxes for her!! I wondered about the celebration and she told me that her students are wishing her for Int. Women's day!
the home I have been living in Hanoi.
Since the day before, the flower shops were blooming, people were going back and forth with gift boxes and flowers, it felt so festive around everywhere. She insisted on giving me some flowers and even sharing her gifts, as I was all alone in a foreign country, how very kind of her!
The next day, when I went to get my morning coffee, the Cafe gave me this beautiful yellow flower (my favourite) and wished me, which made me exceedingly happy.
Later I saw, many places are gifting flowers, cards randomly to women!
It was amazing to see the whole festive vibes everywhere, felt like 'Yes! That is indeed how a celebration should be celebrated!'
Also received this very beautiful gift from the office after arriving in the country.
Even though there are unnecessary, absurd, sad limitations, complications, and hinderance I have to confront every day, it still feels good and equally empowering to be a woman.
I wish you find your way while you walk down the road and shine brighter, happier as you do.
