The Frontline workers, the doctors and nurses, every health worker who stays on duty this holiday and every holiday saving lives and making sure their patients are well cared for.
To the security guards on duty, to the policemen and women, staying in duty, maintaining order and making sure their country is safe. To our soldiers who can't be with their families during this holiday to enjoy the special moments because they are protecting their country, so that their people can celebrate in peace and in joy.
To the attendant in the supermarket and grocery stores, to the fuel stations attenders, to the business owner who makes sure everything runs smoothly during every holiday so that their customers are well attended and served. To the transport workers who have to remain on duty during this period just so people can get to their various destinations safe and sound.
And to everyone that I can't remember to mention right now, who has to work to provide service to the people this holiday, you all are the heroes of this season and deserve to be appreciated. Without you people sacrificing your family time and beautiful moments, the system can not run and for that you are loved.
My uncle is a police officer. I know how my cousins used to wish he was available most of the holidays and some special occasions but he couldn't because he had to be at his duty post. Back then I used to wish my uncle could always come around and celebrate holidays with us, especially when I see my friends' uncles are around but looking back now, I understand and I respect and appreciate him more.
I have had to work during holidays but that was a long time ago. In my first ever job, I was a cashier at a photo lab. And our work is at its peak during every holiday. So we had to stay open and attend to our customers. Most times we had to work extra hours and sometimes overnight so that we could clear our customers orders.
Working in the lab was enjoyable for me. I love working on those beautiful photos of our customers, sorting those beautiful celebration photos was my favorite part and knowing that they get their memorable moments captured in photographs and delivered to them because of our sacrifice was something I was proud of. Yes, we do get extra pay for staying in duty but it was still a sacrifice on our part, where we could be relaxing with our loved one and creating memories with them. We had to stay on duty because without us they wouldn't have those special moments captured and saved.
From the deepest part of my heart, I appreciate this week's prompt, for giving us some moments of reflection on the sacrifices of those who have to be at the duty post during this holiday so that our system can function smoothly.
To my dearest sister, a salonist who has to work extra hours this holiday, I see you, I'm proud of you and I appreciate you for your sacrifices.
To everyone of us whose parents, spouses or loved ones have to sacrifice spending quality time with us this holiday, to my dear friend whose husband is a soldier, you all are our heroes for the seasons, for holding the house front and making sure things are running smoothly. Please do not despair about their situation. Instead, appreciate them for their sacrifices and celebrate them for without them our community systems will fail. Sometimes it's hard on us, when they miss out on our special moments but we should be proud of them, we should cheer them on and let them know that they are loved regardless.
Happy holidays everyone, I hope you have lots of beautiful moments whenever you are.❣️😍
