When I was a child, I frequently heard: "You can't be a lawyer because you're a girl. That is exactly what my father says. I got a regular dose of suspense and thriller series even I was only 5 years old. Of course, I don't understand that when I was young. I only understand that thugs have guns and police are looking out for them to put them in jail. While they are interrogated and being help the police will say "you have the right to remain silent, anything you said will be used against you" and I never know that statement is called Miranda Rights.

Then the suspect or victims will have a laywer to defend them. The lawyer looks professional in tuxedo with bag or folders. They will represent their client, defend them and get them out of the jail. When I was growing up, the image of a lawyer really strikes me. It looks like they are really good in their profession and they are very smart too. I want to be like them. I want to defend someone too, I want to know justice and I want to be aware of the rules, but my father turned me down by saying, "You are a girl".
When I became a teen, I wonder why he said that. I might believe a toddler cannot be a lawyer because they are young, but when they grew old, studied law and pass the bar exam, they could. I pushed it to him but still being a lawyer is a man's job. This is because women are sensitive. So men are not sensitive? It is not only that I received some discrimination against women. Even with my Uncles and some old men in the neighborhood are putting women down because they are a woman.
When did you begin to see attitudes towards women changing in your life, and what do you think prompted those changes? Please give some examples.

The image of women being only a housewife changes when my mother started working for my family. I was in my teens when my father had become addicted to his vices and my mother need to step up for him, work hard, earn money and be the man of the family, even though she is a woman. Our situation prompted my mother to step up. She realized that she needs to do it, because she cannot depend on my father anymore. She find multiple jobs and she made the night as day just to fill up to the money with need every month. I realized some men cannot be a man for their family.
Even my own father acknowledge her hard work. Even with some families and lives, I see women passing the bar exams, being a president of a country, being a good leader and being the breadwinner inside the family. That really changes the image of woman for me. That change prompted everyone to change themselves. Women are inspiring women to do the same. That is the time I realized, I could be whatever I want to be!

Nothing can stop a woman for wanting her goals. I took BS Chemistry in college and some of my relatives are questioning it. Being a nurse is more applicable as it is in demand during that time. I don't want to be a nurse. I can't take care of myself so why I can be a nurse, lol. Also, I faint whenever I see blood so it is quite a failure to be in a medical field. I love Chemistry. I love formulation and research. Even it is included in the man's job, I want it too. I can learn what they can learn and that is what I did.
I am one of the breadwinner too. I am inspired by my mother's courage to save the family. I did what she had done and up until now, I am regular helping the family. I graduated as a Chemistry Major and practicing it too. I realized that they can dump you, reject you and push you down, but it is you who will save yourself for not believing in them because you know yourself more. A woman could be whatever she wants to be, all they need is courage and faith in themselves. I am praying to God that all women can do this, because I believe they can do this! Even my sissy and yes I am inviting you to share sissy because I know you are a woman of courage with all your sacrifices.
