Hello my dear Hivers from community. I hope you're all well and safe. Specially now that there is a super typhoon expected to have it's landfall today in the Philippines.
It's actually raining now here in our town. Classes are suspended already.
Anyway, today I want to share our participation in the Division Festival of Talents (DFOT). I have already posted about our previous participation from the municipal festival of Talents to which we won three gold medals for the DaMath competition in grades one to three.
That's the reason we are able to join this DFOT. Winning the gold medals in the municipal festival of talents gave us the ticket to join this higher level of competition.
We brought three players in total. One for each grade levels, one, two and three. Representing the municipality is already a big win for us.
We went there thru a motorcycle ride. The venue is about and hour and half away from our municipality. We started our travel at 7 am and we came there around 8:30 am. Just in time because the opening program was already done. Contest proper is next.
But before that coaches are gathered for each level to have an agreement regarding the guidelines of the games. After that the game proper started.
We felt really nervous watching our learners play. I myself saw the learner I coached creased his forehead often times, indicating he is having a hard time. Which really manifested because after the second round he was already out in the game. But he was happy despite the lose. Having the opportunity to be at this place is already rewarding for him as it is not often for him to go out from their community.
While the other learners in grade 2 garnered 6th place. Not bad enough for a first time participant in the division level. Actually this is the first time of all the three of learners we coached to participate in this level.
The learner in the grade one was the one who had the luck with him. He bagged the third place in his grade level. He even said he would have been the second placer if not for his headache, haha. I saw he really struggled with his last opponent. Nevertheless, we are so proud of him. It's his first time you know!
We had our lunch in a waiting shed just few meters away from the venue. My husband who's with me bought us fried chicken for lunch. We happily enjoyed our lunch together. The learners looked satisfied even with the simple lunch we had.
We waited for some time before we went home. It took time for the awarding to happen. We were worried as the weather is not good. Good thing around 5 pm we received our certificates and the medal for our learner who got a bronze medal. Just enough for a half an hour ride before the sky gets really dark.
And since it's kinda late at 6 pm when we reached out neighboring town, we decided to treat our players in a simple dinner. So when they get home they can just rest immediately. We had a lechon manok (roasted chicken) for dinner and a liter of soft drinks.
Enough to fill our hungry tummies from the long ride. After eating we went on our way and sent the learners to their respective houses. Then we went our own homes after.
That's all for today. Thanks for reading this far. Til my next post!
