Hello, fabulous Ladies of Hive and every Hiver in the universe!
The year 2021 is coming to a close in just a few days and naturally, just like the previous years, our thoughts are drawn toward goals or for some, new year's resolutions. I have a set of goals that have been penned down a few years back and I am still not close to achieving them so I will keep working on them because they were goals to be achieved on or before my 45th birthday. The farmboy even secretly photographed my list (I saw it while he was scrolling his phone gallery) so I am hoping he will help me attain them, lol!
So what exactly are the goals that I want to achieve in the coming year?
First and foremost is to stay healthy and fit. The passing of my mother-in-law and some relatives due to illness was a wake-up call. Made us realize that good health is the best wealth one could ever have. My 2 elder sisters plus our mother are on medication due to a lifestyle disease and I wouldn't wish to become one too. So yes, health is still one of my priorities.
This personal goal is of course tied up to proper diet, exercise, and of course, a positive mindset and outlook in life. With regards to diet, the farm boy and I are doing well but we can still make it a lot better. I have not been faithful on my walking goals this 2021 but I will make sure to not do the same in the coming year. Taking a 30-minute walk at least thrice a week would be a goal to smash.
And speaking of health, I would need to water some of my relationships to keep them healthy and sound too. I'll have to cultivate more of this. Although I have kept my family relationship at par, I was slacking with my friends. The pandemic was easy to blame, but it shouldn't be. We can actually still visit each other when we like it, but sometimes, laziness comes to abound and we only get connected online. So yes, I want to make more time with my friends too and meet them at least once a quarter.
Another goal for the year 2022 would be to have at least 1200HP on my Hive account. I currently have a little less than 300HP and I am powering up 100% so I think my goal of 1200HP isn't far-fetched. I can power up today but I am waiting for 1st January to do my very first #PUD participation.
The third goal is to travel to at least 5 of the 13 towns in our province. This has been a goal for both the farmboy and me prior to 2020 but it was set aside due to our intentional busyness. We both agreed that we should not postpone it any longer so yes 2022 will be the year for it.
I have quite a few goals but these are the ones that I can share for now :)
2️⃣ Every day, many people are becoming more and more obsessed with money and fame. There is a question many have thought about — Would you trade 10 years of life for wealth and fame?
My answer to this is a loud and resounding NO. What matters is fame or wealth if I barely existed and won't have a meaningful life? Or if at the end of the 10th year I would drop dead? Or while on the quest of money and fame I would lose my loved ones? So no, I wouldn't do such trade, not ever.
This reminded me of a distant relative who spent more of his time growing his material wealth and in the process, neglected his health and his family. He didn't get to enjoy the fruits of his labor because he fell ill and was so remorseful then but it was too late. He passed away at the age of 45.
I definitely don't like to live like that. I prefer to spend one day at a time doing what I love and with the people who matter most to me. Money is good alright, but if I am going to need to trade years of life for it, I would not do it. I think at the end of the day, what we truly seek is happiness and meaningful life and these don't really come from money or fame, but from people we care about and who care for us.
Many years ago, a mother narrated to us along with my co-workers, that she left her son when he was yet a baby. She worked for some years abroad and when she came home and arrived at their house, her husband told their son to go embrace his mama. The son ran past his real mom toward the photo and hugged it. She said it was too painful for her so she never left again. Although the mom's intention was for her family's betterment, she couldn't deny the fact that she couldn't get back the time lost while her son was growing up.
It is very rare that people can achieve fame and wealth without trading years of their lives in the process. The quest for fortune and fame requires focus which usually makes a person sacrifice something. One has to have a strong willpower to be able to maintain a balance between his personal life and the quest for fame and fortune.
