Celebration to me is relative. For most, it probably means party or a feast where people are invited, food are eaten, music are played, decorations are put up and what else. For others, it can be the little things.
The husband and I are turning 13 this month. For some, the number seems to mean "unlucky" or "unfortunate." That I discovered two decades ago which kind of surprised me then. While checking in to a Nikko Hotel abroad, I noticed that it didn't have a 13th floor on the elevator panel nor a number 13 in their suites and rooms. Most hotels skip it all together due to certain beliefs and superstitions that we humans have. Nothing wrong with it of course!
For us though, it means we are doing good great when a lot of marriages had fallen apart. Ours is not perfect, (nobody has), but thankfully we are getting through the tides quite alright after that single bad storm had passed.
So 13th, huh?
Yep.
Do we commemorate our wedding anniversary?
Year on year. Just as we celebrate life and every little milestone, we also honor the date of our wedding, quietly and simply. By that I mean, just the two of us - no parties, no guests, nothing fancy, no candle lights, zero extravagance. Just a lazy day over home-cooked food or a casual meal outside. No one would ever know we are celebrating because we do not do things loud. Although during the first 5 years, we loved to go out somewhere and splurge a little bit. Growing older may have something to do with the changes, lol!
The Farmboy didn't tell sooner that he had planned something different this time and it had to be canceled due to certain commitments plus it's Easter week which means various happenings in the lowlands so it just makes sense to put it off.
Speaking of, Easter Sunday is coming and it would probably be just mass and a lunch out. Gone were those days when we as a clan would spend the whole of Easter day having fun, hunting hard-boiled eggs hidden under sands or gravels, plants and bushes. And those who find the blue ones would win special treats from the tables. That was when we were young anyway.
Aah, that nostalgia...
Makes me smile and wonder at the same time what had happened. Well, things change and Easter celebration as a family is just one of them. But we'll see, there might be surprises coming and our arms are wide open for them.😅
Cheers to a happy new day!
