Magic ?? Well.... ok.... I'm just supposing it is from it's fun large size and it's good luck to have survived the weekly mowing 😊
Yesterday's temp was in the 80's early in the day. I worked 5 overtime hours here at home, so didn't get to take advantage of the cooler morning hours. I haven't nearly finished my flowers and things. It was predicted though for some rain to blow in and that by 4 PM, it would cool down to the mid 60s.
Before the rains came though, I did get outside a bit, still cleaning up the porch and arranging things in fun ways and had a visit from my sister Vicky where I shared a Mimosa tree seedling that had come up in one of my porch boxes and a few other things flower/porch related. (more on that later)
Later the winds got up, the rains and cooler air blew in and then the sun came back out. It was SO nice, so I got out to do a few more things.
One of those things was taking a few trash bags to the bins between my house and my Uncle's next door and since it was several bags, I had put them in my trunk and drove them around,, because I could not carry them all in one trip myself.
The sun was starting to drop low in the afternoon sky as I pulled back in my driveway. To the left, behind the small bushes I saw what looked like a wayward plastic bag. The sun was hitting it just right, making it shine.
When I got out of the car and walked over to retrieve it, I found it wasn't a plastic bag at all, but an amazingly large (for around here) mushroom! Of course I had to grab a few photos .... right? Couldn't let this slip by without record.
Even with the top so large, it was sitting very close to the ground and with the wonderful clovers growing all around, the stem barely showed on most sides. I was happy that it showed in this shot. I was holding my phone close to the ground, but couldn't really see what I was getting exactly. Do you ever do that?
Since multiple trees were cut down from the property right before I moved in 🙁 ... and the stumps were left to rot, it has not been unusual for there to be mushrooms in their general vicinity through the years and some I thought were a good size before, but this was the first time I had seen one this large.
I thought I'd put the end of my croc in the photo to show size comparison.... ha ha (those are new to me and a story for another time too)
You never know what will be waiting for you when you come and go.
Hope you are all doing well and that your hearts are happy.
