A Mother’s Day Letter for my Mom
Ma, this one's for you.
Growing up, I saw how hard life was for you. You never had the chance to finish school, never got the fancy celebrations or flowers on Mother’s Day like other moms we saw on TV. In the province, moms like you are often overlooked as if your sacrifices were just part of life, nothing special. But I saw you, Ma.
I saw how you worked day and night just to send me to school. You skipped new clothes, special food, even rest, just so I could chase a dream you never had the chance to follow. You gave everything, quietly and without expecting anything in return.
Now that I have a job, I can finally give back in the smallest ways. I can treat you to a nice meal, buy you that blouse you once pointed at in the market, or just sit with you and say thank you. It’s still not enough, but it’s something.
Ma, you may not have worn a cap and gown, but you gave me mine. Today, and every day, you deserve to be celebrated.
Happy Mother’s Day, Ma. You are my hero.
