Do you like to travel during the holidays or stay close to home?
For all the holidays, Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year. And celebrating this season with the whole family would be the best option. We Filipinos, have this culture of sticking together with our loved ones, with our family, especially during Christmas Eve.
I remember before when I'm still single and working in Cebu, away from my family in Negros Occidental, I and my sister would take our vacation leave just to be with our family. My father used to call us, confirming the exact day we travel home. But a day before we leave Cebu, we make sure to buy our Christmas present for the whole family.
I can still remember they're happy faces whenever we arrived. The ambiance of our home relaxes us from the long hours of travel. Truly, there's no place like home. This is the only place I know that I can recharge my whole being after the stressful months of working away. Whenever I feel too much pressure and would love to take a deep breath, my option is home.
Even up to now, we were still invited every Christmas to celebrate together with my parents and siblings, while we celebrate New Year's Eve with my in-laws (husband's family).
What is your favorite holiday food and why?
Me and my sister Jen, usually prepare our food for 'Noche Buena'. And my favorite part was to prepare my favorite 'buko salad'. It is widely known for Filipinos as a fruit dessert from strips of fresh young coconut mixed with other fruits, nata de coco, and some dairy products like cream, milk, and cheese. It's my all-time favorite dessert since you can make it any time you want as long as there is enough young coconut fruit to use.
We have at least 7 coconut trees in our backyard and ever since childhood, this is my favorite fruit to eat. And I can even finish drinking 1 liter of its juice in less than an hour. Then I'll expect frequent travel to the comfort room afterward. And that's my way of cleansing my stomach, lol.😅
Celebrating Christmas along with the whole family is considered one of the Filipino traditions that I will forever treasure and will continue from generation to generation.
This is my entry for this week's contest and I'd like to invite to join also.
God bless everybody.
