I was looking for a card game to play and saw a rogue-like card game called, "Dungeon Tales," that is somewhat similar to how "Slay the Spire" is played.
The dev is from Homecooked Games who made a total of three games of different genres.

Roguelike is a type of game genre where you explore a dungeon or an area and if you die, you reset from the very start without your earned or found items. The idea is very similar to .io games, if you ever played one. Since you reset when you die or finish the game, the replayability is really high and you can have different play styles each run.
On one of my runs, I saw a very familiar monster and began to check for references on what I can find in this game, Splinterlands is one of them.
Gelatinous Cube vs Gelatinous Cube
I think it was my 3rd or 4th run when I encountered a very familiar monster named Gelatinous Cube.

At first I just thought it was a cool monster but not only the name was familiar but also the art style. Then I remembered...

I am not sure if this was intended to be made, if it has permissions. Also, the monster wasn't strong or have any particular abilities which was a disappointment.
Kubiroh vs Kuriboh
Unfortunately, (or fortunately) this was the only Splinterlands monster that I saw. But they also have other references from other games like "Kubiroh" boss monster that splits when it gets to lower health.

It is very similar to Yugioh's Kuriboh monster but unlike Gelatinous Cube, this one isn't a direct copy.

Psiduck vs Psyduck
Another character is pokemon's Psyduck which is a psychic pokemon from season 1 by trainer Misty.

There was a change in spelling of the name but like in the first case, the character design is awfully similar.

Infinity Gauntlet vs Infinity Gauntlet
This one is not a character but one of the game's artifacts.

This one is so popular that I am not sure if I need to tell you where they did the reference from. I count this one as a reference than a copy because they made the effort to change it at the very least.

The aim of this article isn't to embarass the devs or call them out. I just think that it is an interesting thing that our game isn't as small as I've thought and there are other devs out there who thinks that Splinterlands character is good enough to be used as reference to their games.
I wish I find more stuff like this but also hoping that next time, don't make a 100% copy but rather just a reference. The case of Gelatinous Cube is just a straight up copy.
I don't think the dev is trying to copyright but simply doing references. The problem is that this game, while free, has micro-currency involved.

In other words, they "kind of" stole the ideas from Splinterlands and other games by using their characters. Of course, I cannot say for sure since I don't know if they have any permissions but I didn't find any in the playstore so I am only assuming.
While the "Kubiroh" is similar to Yugioh's "Kuriboh", they are not the same and may take the pass. This also goes for the Infinity Gauntlet and "maybe" Pokemon's Psyduck. But Splinterland's "Gelatinous Cube" is 100% copy from the name to art.
I just thought that it was interesting seeing Splinterlands characters in another game even though the legality of using it is questionable.
I don't think they asked Splinterlands permission to use their character for another game. But this is only my opinion and nothing more.
