The seven deadly sins have long stood as mirrors to the darker corners of human nature. These are not monsters from legend but impulses that live quietly within us. They can easily be misunderstood as harmless actions until each of them function as an unstoppable habit.
Seven Deadly Sins
This is a story about the famous seven.
Sins that is deadly, it's not even eleven.
To commit these is far worse than death.
It's far worse than anything you've ever met.
Pride is the word you won’t take back,
The simple “sorry” that you lack.
You know you’re wrong, you feel the sting
But choke before admitting anything.
Greed is always checking your account
Always wanting more whatever the amount.
You say “just a few more” every time,
without a care as if everyday is your prime.
Wrath is slamming doors too hard,
A message sent without a guard.
Ten seconds more and you’d be fine
But anger always passes the line.
Envy is scrolling late at night,
Comparing yourself with other's sight.
You see their wins, heard their praise
And feel behind in your own place.
Lust is something very carnal.
Answering your urges as if it's primal.
Love is fake and nothing but an illusion.
As long as you do the deed of action.
Gluttony is just one more plate,
You say, “I’m full,” but still hesitate.
Not hunger now, just taste and thrill,
A consistent urge that won’t sit still.
Sloth is laziness on repeat,
Deadlines pushed, sleeps on your seat.
You say “tomorrow,” soft and thin
And watch the hours pass within.
Seven habits, how have you been?
Little imps right under your skin.
Listen close before you answer this,
"Which one feels hardest to dismiss?"
