Greetings, ladies of Hive. It's been a while since I participated in the weekly contests. Life happens so I'm not opportuned to post regularly or as much as I want to.
The first question of this week's contest by piqued my interest because it brought back many good memories for me. The question is:-
If I could be any scent it's got to be vanilla and peppermint mixed together. Is that strange? π I love scents that are sweet and endearing to the nose. Permit me to say, like beauty is in the eye of the beholder, scent is also in the nose of the scenter. I'm smiling as I write it and hope you understand where I am going with it.
Not everyone appreciates the same smell. Some people love woodsy, citrusy or floral scents more. Vanilla and peppermint are my favourite. My friends and siblings always make fun of me because of this.
When I buy my body lotions, hair products and perfumes, I look for those that have this mixture or I buy them separately and find a way to mix them.
Memoriesβ¦
When I was little, I stayed with my grandmother (of blessed memory) for a year and few months. In that period, I noticed my grandma sold locally made essential oils. She made shea, peppermint, and olive oils herself and sold some while we used some at home.

I remember the times I was ill, she rubbed peppermint oil all over my body and subjected me to some steaming session to relieve my chest and stuffy nose. I usually got better within 24 hours after this therapy but not without fighting her on it. πππ
Grandma made the therapy easy with the scent of peppermint, the cooling sensation of menthol and sometimes she mixed in lemon peels to give it a citrusy aroma.
As I am writing this post, I am transported to that time and how much I miss my grandmother. The scent of vanilla and peppermint is always soothing and nice.
If I were a scent, I would choose peppermint mixed with vanilla or lemon to bring calmness, comfort and possibly healing to people who need it. There's no gainsaying we are always stressed due to the pressures of life and responsibilities.
I have always repeated my grandma's oil and scent therapy when ill and extended them to my children as well.
I enjoyed participating in this contest so I invite to join me in this fun.
Thanks for reading! π
