Hi folks!!!
Happy Lunar New Year ♥️
In Vietnam, we call the Lunar New Year by the name "Tết". During this time of the year, we usually wear "áo dài", which is the traditional custom of Vietnam.
To be honest, I was not a fan of "áo dài" in the past as I thought I was too fat to wear it. However, after moving to Switzerland to continue my study, I always enjoy wearing "áo dài" since it is a way for me to express my homesickness and patriotism. I also feel more confident to wear it now since I found different styles of "áo dài" that fit my body.
Years ago, I usually went to the market with my mom to choose the fabric and then brought it to the local tailor to get my "áo dài" done. However, these days, I prefer buying a ready-made one from local brands as they provide more styles for me to choose. Nowadays, there are some brands in Vietnam that specialise in designing "áo dài". Besides, most of the brands also launch their "áo dài" collections before "Tết". Thus, there are various options for us to choose. I actually really enjoy the process of choosing the right "áo dài" for the holiday. I like it to be chic and trendy but not too much as I want it to be traditional as well. Here are some of my favourite ones in my "áo dài" collection.
This one is my favourite of all time. It's elegant, and traditional with a modern twist. It's a dress with some typical "áo dài" details, so I can wear it in not only Lunar New Year but also other events. Besides, its blue and white colour also flatters me.
This is the most vibrant "áo dài" that I've ever had. It's a really cute one. I wore this 3 years ago and I think I'm too old to wear it now, lol :))))
I usually buy "áo dài" that has a loose fit. However, this one is exceptional and I think it fits me really well.
I've just worn this one today :)) The print on the "áo dài" is a harmonious picture of Hanoi in "Tết". As a person who had a special love for Hanoi, I decided to choose this one for this year.
How about you? Do you usually wear your traditional garments?
I wish you a safe, healthy and prosperous New Year!!!
