I give you this ring as a token of my love and a sign of our marriage
I promise to care for you with love and respect
And will support and comfort you
Through the good times, and the troubled times
With love and patience
Ever since the vows on my wedding day, I've been wearing my wedding ring. Hubby prefers to wear his as a pendant. He told me he's allergic to rings when we first got married. Mmmm ..... Really? Or are you allergic to marriage, I thought?? Luckily, his 'allergy' has had no impact on our marriage, and we're still together after all these years.
I normally wear two rings, my wedding ring and a Russian wedding ring. The latter has nothing to do with my marriage. I saw it at Covent Garden in London years ago even before I got married. It's made of silver and I was attracted to its unique design with three bands that sits perfectly on top of one another. I can even roll them along my finger if they're positioned correctly.
I normally remove my rings at home and only wear them when I go out. During Covid in the past few years, I didn't wear them most of the time as we were in lockdown. Then about two years ago, one day I suddenly realized I couldn't find my wedding ring 😬. I searched up and down at home, and to be honest, there weren't that many places to look because I was living in temporary accommodation and didn't have much furniture. I even looked into every pocket of my clothes but to no avail. In the end, I reckon I must have removed it at home, put it in my jeans pocket, forgot about it, and it got lost at the laundrette. Bummer!!! 😭😭😭
It was very annoying, but I wasn't totally devasted. I mean I'm not really a possessions person, and a marriage isn't defined by a ring. Ring or no ring we're still in love and together, and that's what matters.😍
Recently, I returned to Taiwan to pick up my belongings. The other day I was going through one of my trinket boxes and when I opened it, I was gobsmacked. My wedding ring was inside!!! It was in Taiwan all these years when I was in UK. How is that possible? Why did I not wear it when I returned to UK? Why did I wear my russion wedding ring but not my wedding ring? That is soooooo odd.
Anyway, I was so happy to be reunited with my wedding ring which I thought I'd lost two years ago. But oh no!!! One problem .... it doesn't fit me now. I know, it must be the heat in Taiwan and my fingers has swollen up. Or maybe .... I've put on weight these few years 😭😭😭
In the meanwhile, my little angels are looking after my rings for me to make sure I don't lose them again. Thank you Snowpea and Mary
