Hey #ladiesofhive, how you all doing?
Happy International Women's day to all of us.
March 8 of every year is celebrated as International Women's day (IWD). A day where women of all races, tribes, colors, fields, etc., are celebrated. Also, this day is set aside to commemorate the political, cultural, and socio-economic achievements made by women in various fields.
The idea behind the IWD's celebration emanated from the need to create a better and enabling environment for women to live and work in.
The theme for this year's IWD is "Embrace Equity",. It is a call for all; government agencies, churches, organizations, society etc., to give women not only equal treatment but also fair or equitable treatment, such that will allow them exercise their rights as individuals and at the same time consider their peculiarities and the challenges they face as women like menstruation, pregnancy, childbirth, post partum care, menopause, including cultural, social and historical factors.
The color of IWD is purple, green and white. Purple represents justice and dignity. Green represents hope while White symbolizes purity.
Aside the International Women's day being celebrated every 8th of March, different churches here in my country, Nigeria, use the month of March to celebrate Mother's day, otherwise called Mothering Sunday, which is usually a week long event with the grande finale being Sundays.
So do not be surprised if you hear that every Sunday is Mothering Sunday 😂.
Yes, women, mothers deserve to be celebrated every day. 😍
Women are unique breeds, loving, kind, passionate, and caring.
Women are special gifts to the family and society at large.
Women are the backbone of the family.
Women are incredible.
Women are strong, industrious and great achievers.
Women are pacesetters.
Women are everything.
God bless all women!
Women should be loved, cared for, protected and given the equal opportunity to maximize their potentials in all fields, and contribute their part in nation building.
Every woman should be there for each other, irrespective of class, educational level or degrees acquired, position, religious affiliation etc.
I am proud to be a woman.
I am
Happy #IWD to me and all the beautiful women around the world
