Winter fishing has never been my favorite and this morning it took alot to haul myself out of bed to go face the current windy conditions of August.
Luckily a strong cup of Java helped make the good decision to just go instead of curling up under the nice warm blankets.
It was a relatively easy launch. As soon as we got behind the back line there were bait balls everywhere. I knew this was a sign that it would be a successful fishing trip. Small little silver fish that attract the game fish we are looking for.
Thumping into wind is never fun on a jetski so we decided that we would one have one go at it and make a long run into it and dift back on the ledge to Ponta. My second bait down I hooked the biggest swallow tail Rock Cod I've ever seen. He gave a good fight too!
The conditions deteriorated fast and we started heading back to shore giving trolling some colorful lures one last shot. We went on double up but Mark's fish got away. For me the battle was on! The fish took off like a rocket and I quickly got to the last bit of line on my reel. We had to give chase with the ski to so that I could retrieve some line. Finally I got to see the prize at the end of the line. It was that illusive Wahoo!
As soon as he saw the ski he took one last big run turning the ski in circles. I clung on to that rod for dear life and was very relieved when Mark gaffed the fish. I win ✊😎
The joy I feel when I land a big fish like this indescribable. This is when I am in my element and feel so alive.
It was not a long day on the water but we were fortunate to see many whales with their young, dolphins and also turtles. I feel extremely blessed 🙏 I love living in Africa ❤️
