Village Fun Continues at Ivu River

After enjoying the village festival, the Ndiebe Abam day, all the dancing, the masquerades, traditional dances and all that. The next day was pure relaxation and recharge.
The ultimate spot was a river called Ivu in the village, the biggest and the most beautiful flowing river we have. It's a crystal-clear, fresh, and always moving gently, surrounded by lush green bushes and trees.

After all the dust, all the celebration and the drama, dipping in the river felt like the best rest ever.

So on that 3rd day, we all decided spontaneously that since it was a sunny day that we should all go to the river to have some fun and to cool off.

So off we went. Ivu is a river that flows steadily through the village, it has shallow areas ideal for playing and for those who are afraid of the deep, and also has deeper sections for the confident swimmers.

The water was super cool, refreshing and invigorating, perfect for sunny days like that. Below is the river in a serene glory:

And then the fun exploded, everyone jumped in. Slashes flying and laughter was bouncing off the trees.

Everyone was on point, with their headbands and braids, all full of playful energy.

For me I was just dipping in the water, chilling in the current. So Quick confession: I still cannot swim 😭😂 so I stayed in the shallow , safe zone, splashing, playing like kids lol and soaking up the vibes without any risk of going under.

So in the village they believe that everyone should know how to swim but they forget that is who are raised in the city may not have the opportunity to learn , so what they try to do is forcefully put us into the water until we almost drown and then get us up, they claim that the fear will force us to learn how to swim. But thankfully I avoided this being done to me by avoiding the people that did it lol.

But it's a fun community, some brought ball and we did some throw in the water. I also took a good number of photos to capture beautiful memories:

We all stayed there until we were fully soaked, happily tired, and ready to head back , no schedules, just togetherness. That is really how fun the village can be.

And soaking into the water was a great way to recharge considering it was a hot afternoon and the heat was too much.

We're so blessed to have that river and many more in the village. Most villagers come to the rovers to bath and wash their clothes, and some just to swim, play and have fun.

This was on the 30th of December 2025, and this is part of our tradition every year we visit the village, to go to the river and play, it's always so much fun.
