Una de las cosas que me prometí para este año es ser un poco más constante con el Ladies of Hive Community Contest, además de también ser un poco más activa en otras comunidades más allá de la comunidad de comida y de fotografía…ya veremos qué tal me va con eso. Así que, cumpliendo con esta primera promesa, hoy les compartiré mi entrada para este Ladies of Hive Community Contest Edición #65...¡EDICIÓN #65! Wow, el tiempo sí que pasa rápido, ¿no creen? Me encantaría invitar a Hive account@veronicamartinc a participar en esta nueva edición del concurso.

Las preguntas que nos plantean en esta oportunidad son bastante interesantes y diversidad, como ya es costumbre. Hace algún tiempo había contado la historia de uno de los momentos más embarazosos de toda mi vida, aquel día en el que la suela de mi zapato deportivo salió volando por los aires junto con el balón de futbol. Realmente no recuerdo algún otro momento vergonzoso que logre superar a este, por lo que mi participación el día de hoy estará basada en la segunda pregunta planteada: ¡hoy les contaré cual es la historia detrás de mi nombre de usuario de Hive!

One of the things I promised myself for this year is to be a little more consistent with the Ladies of Hive Community Contest, as well as being a little more active in other communities beyond the food and photography community...we'll see how I do with that. So, fulfilling this first promise, today I will share with you my entry for this Ladies of Hive Community Contest Edition #65...EDITION #65! Wow, time sure does go by fast, doesn't it?

The questions posed to us this time are quite interesting and diverse, as usual. Some time ago I had told the story of one of the most embarrassing moments of my life, that day when the sole of my sneaker went flying through the air along with the soccer ball. I really don't remember any other embarrassing moment that could surpass this one, so my participation today will be based on the second question posed: Today I will tell you what is the story behind my Hive username!.

Siempre me he caracterizado por ser una persona bastante creativa en diferentes aspectos, pero a pesar de tener mucha creatividad soy terrible para crear nombres de usuarios…sí, algo un poco contradictorio. Cada vez que intento crear un nombre de usuario interesante que resuene en la mente de las personas, no se me ocurre absolutamente nada y siempre termino optando por algo básico. Es por esto que la historia detrás de mi nombre de usuario no sea la más interesante de todas.

Recuerdo que cuando estaba por crear mi cuenta en esta plataforma quería que mi nombre de usuario fuese algo distinto, quería que me identificara y que fuese realmente único y auténtico. Luego de tanto pensar no me gustaron ninguna de las opciones que se me habían ocurrido, así que terminé optando por lo básico mi primer nombre (Mary) acompañado de las iniciales de mi segundo nombre y mis dos apellidos. La cuestión está en que no recuerdo qué fue lo que ocurrió en ese momento, pero quizás por algún descuido terminé obviando la inicial de mi segundo apellido y todo se terminó limitando a Maryed: “Mary” diminutivo de mi primer nombre, “E” la inicial de mi segundo nombre y “D” la inicial de mi primer apellido.

I've always been known for being a pretty creative person in different aspects, but despite having a lot of creativity I'm terrible at coming up with usernames...yeah, a bit contradictory. Every time I try to come up with an interesting username that resonates in people's minds, I come up with absolutely nothing and always end up going with something basic. This is why the story behind my username may not be the most interesting of all.

I remember when I first created my account on this platform I wanted my username to be something different, I wanted it to identify me and be really unique and authentic. After so much thought I didn't like any of the options I had come up with, so I ended up going with the basics my first name (Mary) accompanied by the initials of my middle name and my two last names. The thing is that I don't remember what happened at that moment, but maybe because of some oversight I ended up leaving out the initial of my second last name and everything was limited to Maryed: "Mary" diminutive of my first name, "E" the initial of my second name and "D" the initial of my first last name.

Es gracioso el hecho de que muchos usuarios de la plataforma me han comentado que, al principio, pensaron que “Maryed” era mi nombre real. Una vez alguien escribió en un comentario: “Maryed, ¡qué nombre tan lindo! Es diferente, me agrada” y yo sólo reí porque al pronunciarlo no suena tan mal, de verdad que sí podría ser un nombre bastante bonito. Otra cosa que me causa cierta gracia es que no todos lo pronuncian de la misma manera pues hay quienes lo pronuncian tal y como se lee, mientras que otros lo pronuncian como en realidad es, ósea, como la creadora del nombre –yo– lo pronuncia.

Puede que no haya logrado dar con un nombre de usuario distinto o quizás con algún seudónimo interesante de escritora, pero al final de cuentas me terminó agradado haber tenido ese pequeño descuido y no incluir la letra “Q” luego de la “D”, creo que así mi nombre de usuario no tendría la misma “magia” que tiene en este momento. Al final de cuentas me agrada el Maryed, porque después de mucho tiempo me di cuenta de que sí es único, interesante y auténtico…digo, ¿acaso han visto a alguna otra Maryed por acá?

Funny enough, many users of the platform have commented to me that, at first, they thought "Maryed" was my real name. Once someone wrote in a comment: "Maryed, what a nice name! It's different, I like it" and I just laughed because when pronounced it doesn't sound so bad, it really could be a pretty nice name. Another thing that makes me laugh is that not everyone pronounces it the same way, some people pronounce it as it is read, while others pronounce it as it really is, that is, as the creator of the name -me- pronounces it.

I may not have been able to come up with a different user name or perhaps with some interesting writer's pseudonym, but at the end of the day I'm glad I had that little oversight and didn't include the letter "Q" after the "D", I think that way my user name wouldn't have the same "magic" it has at the moment. At the end of the day I like the Maryed, because after a long time I realized that it is unique, interesting and authentic...I mean, have you seen any other Maryed around here?
