I would like to thank for the interesting questions, I was actually tempted to respond to the two but had a change of mind. I'll also like to thank
and
for the invite. Here is my response to question one.
The number of women traveling solo has been on the rise. How do you feel about traveling as a single woman? What are the advantages and challenges?
What a coincidence that I wrote just yesterday some reasons I love travelling solo, I intentionally skipped the challenges I may face as a solo traveller because I just wanted to feel good about experiencing travelling alone. I'm not a big fan of travelling alone or maybe I'm yet to have the opportunities more.
I travel with people most of the times in a commercial bus or with my family, never travelled alone... None I could think of but I've seen movies and I've seen life experiences of women who travel alone, I've learnt how fun it could be and of course the challenges they may be bound to face on their way.
Like I had said in my yesterday's post, having your privacy while you travel can be pretty amazing... Here are some advantages I could remember.
As a woman who wants to see the world without any inconveniences, going on her own car for a solo travel is a great way. She gets to see from the right view while she navigate through till she gets to a destination she would love to stop at.
Travelling alone also gives her a means to have fun with cool music, eat snacks if she's a fan and sing aloud (I think I'm talking about my kind of woman π ) I enjoy listening to music and sing along when I travel with a group, I can only imagine how wild I can be with it when I'm alone.
Taking enough items without inconveniencing anyone, that is another advantage I see in traveling as a single woman. She gets to take whatever she would need for her travel, change into something if she has to without anyone watching... This can be a silly one though π if you get what I mean.
I think that is all I can remember as advantages of travelling alone as a woman. For the challenges...
Women aren't the strongest when it comes to showing strength or know a lot about car like some men and I see this as a challenge because travelling solo could mean "Having flat tyres on the way" or "Finding help to get a car repair". Every person travelling solo may experience this but few know their way around it.
Another disadvantage I could add is the feeling of being alone and maybe the lady starts feeling sick or gets scared during her journey. It could never happen to someone but it does happen and it's something a lady should be weary of when she decides to travel alone.
The fear of getting kidnapped, being robbed and faced with accidents... It's the fear of many traveling solo but I think it's worse for a single lady travelling. Here in my country, almost all the road paths aren't safe, people are being extra careful traveling through the roads.
There may be other challenges but I'll like to stop here and maybe read from others what other challenges single ladies travelling may experience.
This is my entry to the Ladies of Hive Contest and I would love to invite and
to join in participating.
