I am trying to be a minimalist, and making a deliberate effort to live with just the items that I need, which are those that help me reach my objectives. I remove unnecessary things as a source of distraction so that I can focus more on what is essential to me.
In a nutshell, it is my solution to the elevator pitch.
On the other hand, there are instances when I want to provide a more in-depth response. Whenever people ask me follow-up questions that allow me to elaborate more on the concept of simple living, I like to add:
Clarity, purpose, and intentionality are its distinguishing traits. Being a minimalist is, at its core, deliberately prioritizing the things most essential to us and removing everything that interferes with those things.
Because no two persons are precisely the same, the notion of intentionality takes distinct forms for each of us. However, to achieve it, we must individually go deeper and become more introspective about our beliefs and interests.
Freeing oneself from the need to possess everything is what it is.
Modern civilization has bought into the myth that the key to a happy existence is to amass as many possessions as possible and, thus, to collect as many things as possible. They think that more is better and have unwittingly succumbed to the notion that pleasure can be bought at a department shop.
But they need to be corrected. Adopting a minimalist lifestyle results in liberation from the all-consuming need to own everything. Rather than continuing on the path of materialism, it takes the initiative to look for enjoyment in other places. It priorities connections, experiences, and taking care of one's spirit. It enables us to identify all we already possess and reminds us to be thankful.
By doing so, we discover a life that is richer in abundance.
It is liberation from the mania of modernity.
We are in a state of excessive tension, hurriedness, and hurriedness. We put in a lot of hard work and are enthusiastic about our business to pay the bills, yet we are getting deeper and deeper into debt daily. Even though we constantly switch between activities and multitasking, we always need help accomplishing something. Through our mobile phones, we maintain a continuous connection with other people; nonetheless, genuine connections that might transform our lives continue to evade us.
Deciding to live a minimalist lifestyle slows down life and liberates us from the current craze so that we can live more quickly. It provides the freedom to disconnect. Only the most important things should be kept. Its purpose is to eliminate the insignificant while preserving the important. It values deliberate actions that contribute to the overall worth of life.
No one intentionally chooses to live in deception, although majority of individuals do so. They lead three distinct lives: one focused on their family, one on their workplace, and one on their peers. Because of their lifestyle, individuals are compelled to display a particular image to the outside world, which varies depending on their situation. The social media or the expectations of their job are causing them to be thrown about and twisted around.
On the other hand, a simple life is unified and constant. Because of this, it has acquired a way of life that is entirely transportable regardless of the circumstances. When Friday evening rolls around, life is precisely the same as it is on Sunday morning... and it is the same on Monday morning. It is consistent, trustworthy, and unchanging in its behaviour. It functions properly in any situation.
We are living in a world that holds celebrities in high esteem. The individuals are captured in photographs for publication in periodicals, interviewed on the radio, and taped for television. Numerous people look up to their way of life as if it were the ideal, and they envy it. In the same manner, the media only supports those who lead lives that are pretty uncomplicated. Companies and politicians can only accommodate them within the consumerist mentality prevalent in today's society. Nevertheless, they lead a life that is welcoming and appealing to others.
At a time when most people are striving for prosperity, glitter, and celebrity, minimalism is calling out to us with a diminutive, quieter, and more composed voice. It encourages us to ease up, reduce our consumption, and enjoy more. When we encounter someone living a less complicated life, we often realize that we have been pursuing the wrong things the whole time.
Internal rather than external, that is the case.
From my experience, I have realized that adopting this way of life is always a question of the heart. Once the clutter from the outside world has been cleared away, we can make room to address the most profound problems that affect our relationships and our lives in general.
It is not impossible to achieve the goal of being a minimalist. I can personally attest to this with my family. We were simply an ordinary family of four living in the suburbs and accumulated as many material possessions as our money and credit cards would allow us to. After that, we turned to simplicity. Because we have decided to live a minimalist lifestyle, we will never return to how our lives were before. Regarding living a simple life, we are living evidence that it is entirely possible (and distinctive) for anybody interested.
According to my observations, people who are usually interested in learning more and who are willing to take the time to ask follow-up questions are often attracted to the concepts of a minimalist lifestyle. It provides practically everything our hearts wish for, a significant benefit.
