The first question is indeed very interesting. Normally people ask about who are those who have inspired us in life. From career perspective this question hits me very differently. As such in life my Father is my biggest hero and inspiration, he gave me very valuable lessons in life, but it is equally true that he did not have much of a career or business vision and in that part of life I did not get any much guidance from him. He lived an average life and that's what he expected with me as well. I completed my basic education and then got a job immediately after that. Focus was only on earning money and not on making career.
When I got my first job, I remember very clearly, he was so happy and he told me. Good now you have a job and continue with it for life long as it was a good company and run by someone from my own religion, so that mattered to him more. He himself worked in one company for 40 years so he thought that was an ideal thing for a stable life. The first 15 years of my career passes away just like that, no motivation, no growth, just daily grind of same old work for 15 years. After that I had some department transfers and I moved in to Human Resources, pursued further education in HR and started a new inning. By this time, I was feeling frustrated and was getting an itch for change and growth. Even after getting into HR doing more studies, nothing much was changing. I was not getting growth.
In this time, I met one lady who was the Head of Leadership Training programs in my Company, Her name was Dr. Sharada, I had a pleasant appearance and smartness, so she offered me a role in her team. For the first time in my career life I suddenly felt very good about it. I felt like I was about to start doing something meaningful. I had some heartfelt conversations with her about my career graph. She understood me and told me, she will show me the way ahead and become my career guide. From that moment she started grooming me into the role. She gave me opportunities. I was feeling confident about myself. I started conducting trainings for the top leadership team of my Company, nothing made me feel prouder than this achievement in my career all through out. I received loads of compliments also for my work. Senior leaders started recommending me on LinkedIn.
Today also you will find these recommendations on LinkedIn. I worked with her for some time and then I got a very good leadership role opportunity in another top most IT company Accenture. She told me I should take it and even though I was working in her department, she let me go with ease. In the new company I started with so much confidence and grew so very well. All of this happened only because of this one lady; Dr Sharada, who I cannot be enough grateful for all my life. I rose quickly after her guidance and mentoring. Whatever status I gained in my career is just because of her.
