However, we always have those people who always find the means to have their way around the law. We have all broken the law before, but not every one of us is lucky enough to get away with it. Everyday, laws are broken and people being held accountable. But then, there’s always and has to be some level of freedom in every country. Some people tend to use this opportunity to do things which are out of the ordinary.
If I had the opportunity to create a new law in my country, it would be one that would strive towards protecting women and children. There are rules in my county that are meant to protect women but most of these rules are just rules on paper. Recently, there’s been talks of a rape festival happening somewhere in Nigeria and it breaks my heart to see such events taking place in this era of ours.
Women have always been vulnerable and we have all seen how women in this era always make sure to protect themselves all the time from predators. This morning I saw a post about a lady who had been raped and left on a farm somewhere in Ghana. She was found and taken to the hospital by some good samaritans. For some people, this might look like a small issue but honestly, you wouldn’t know the intensity of the situation until it has happened to you or someone close to you . Women are no more safe in their own homes, communities and countries aloud. And to think this is the kind of world we have to raise our girl children in is something I can’t even begin to think about.
If I had my way, the one law I would create and implement would be one that would provide extra care for women and also men who are vulnerable. Everyone deserves protection from the obvious and what isn’t obvious. The goal is to create a safe space of ourselves and the younger ones growing up. No one in their right mind would envision a world where you can’t even walk on your own street without the fear of being attacked or worse. We deserve to have the peace of mind that comes with safety and security because what we have now doesn’t really cut it for safety.
