As a kid I was allowed to dream. I had dreams so big i could conquer the world. Childhood was indeed bliss. We were told to study hard, get good grades, have a house and live happily ever after. But the reality of life hit us with time. It wasn’t as easy as it was made to look. Like isn’t a straight path. Some may have it easy while some may not.
Times have changed, the system then isn’t the same as the system today and that’s something most of our old folks haven’t had a hang of yet.
Amidst all the changes that we have had to undergo over time, society still believes young adults are supposed to make it in life by their mid twenties. But the system we live in today would out allow us because the average Ghanaian today is projected to say they have made it in life at around the age of 45. But here we are being expected to be billionaires by 25. Some of us may make it even before 25 while others will or might never make it.
Life isn’t a straight path and the youth today should be allowed to walk the road through and through. We need to start speaking up about it, let the young one breathe, allow them explore their choice and who they are and let’s do away with the unnecessary pressure of making it in life. We all are working hard to make it in life- don’t add to the pressure by constantly reminding us for a vision we wake up to everyday.
